Happy Birthday America.
Feliz Cumpleaños América.
At the Regular City Council Meeting of January 9, 2024 (https://www.youtube.com/live/JGs0U71eTHE?si=R7aXZyipn4fe-fhr), the Public Works Director presented an Informational Communication letter-notifying residents and council members of the Expanded Flood Mitigation Program, as a result of the $500,000 Cook County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funding secured. This expanded funding extends eligibility to all residential properties (single-family homes to multiunit buildings 3-units of less) and increases the availability of reimbursement grants.

To further facilitate eligible property owners to apply, we have established an online application portal for residents.

Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in January 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control. As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later. Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree.
All District 100 classes and offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th.
Todas las clases y oficinas del Distrito 100 estarán cerradas el miércoles, 19 de junio.
