This was something I read that was very touching that you do not see much anymore.
The meaning of "true love". Dave and I will be celebrating 42 years of being "soul mates". I feel so blessed! If you have time read article below. You too may be touched I was.
Janet Huber

My parents were married for 55 years. One morning, my mom was going downstairs to make dad breakfast, she had a heart attack and fell. My father picked her up as best he could and almost dragged her into the truck. At full speed, without respecting traffic lights, he drove her to the hospital.

When he arrived, unfortunately she was no longer with us.

During the funeral, my father did not speak; his gaze was lost. He hardly cried.

That night, his children joined him. In an atmosphere of pain and nostalgia, we remembered beautiful anecdotes and he asked my brother, a theologian, to tell him where Mom would be at that moment. My brother began to talk about life after death and guesses as to how and where she would be.

My father listened carefully. Suddenly he asked us to take him to the cemetery.

"Dad!" we replied, "it's 11 at night, we can't go to the cemetery right now!"

He raised his voice, and with a glazed look he said: "Don't argue with me, please don't argue with the man who just lost his wife of 55 years."

There was a moment of respectful silence, we didn't argue anymore. We went to the cemetery. With a flashlight we reached her grave.

My father sat down, prayed, and told his children: "It was 55 years... you know? No one can really talk about true love if haven't done life with a person."

He paused and wiped his face.

"She and I, we were together in the good and in the bad." he continued. "When I changed jobs, we packed up when we sold the house and moved. We shared the joy of seeing our children become parents, together we mourned the departure of loved ones, we prayed together in the waiting room of some hospitals, we supported each other in pain, we hugged one another each day, and we forgave mistakes."

And then he paused and added, "Children, that's all gone and I'm happy tonight. Do you know why I'm happy? Because she left before me. She didn't have to go through the agony and pain of burying me, of being left alone after my departure. I will be the one to go through that, and I thank God for that. I love her so much that I wouldn't have liked her to suffer..."

When my father finished speaking, my brothers and I had tears streaming down our faces. We hugged him and he comforted us, "It's okay. We can go home. It's been a good day."

That night I understood what true love is. It is more than just romanticism and s*x, it's two people who stand beside one another, who are committed to one another ... through all the good and bad that life throws at you.

Peace in your hearts.

We are so happy to have recently completed our THIRD office expansion in the last year. We are blessed to have added two more therapists’ offices, as well as an entirely new checkout counter!

As this pandemic continues to rage on, most counseling offices in our community have turned to strictly telehealth. Here at Compassion Counseling Inc., we want to give our clients the highest level of care we can offer. We are committed to face-to-face, in-person counseling as we believe that therapy is much more effective when it is done in-person, as opposed to through a screen.

To ensure everyone's safety, we strive to keep our offices as clean as possible. We have masks and hand sanitizer readily available to all of our clients & counselors, and each and every office is equipped with a top-of-the-line air purifier.

In 2022, we look forward to serving our community in the best way possible.

Thank you so much for the continued support.

The Ripple Effect of Bullying 10/25/2021

"Bullying can exacerbate existing mental health challenges. Sadly, bullying has negative short and long-term consequences for children and adolescents who have experienced it directly, as well as for those who have been exposed indirectly as witnesses. Youth who have been exposed to bullying can endure detrimental psychological, physical, and academic effects. The psychological manifestations of being bullied involve depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harming behaviors, alcohol and drug use, as well as aggression."

Better than Revenge: Strategies to Free Yourself from Anger 08/10/2021

"The idea of revenge seems like it would be satisfying and help bring resolution to the wrong from the past. This may seem reasonable for a while and can give you a sense of vindication. But sometimes people get stuck in these thoughts, hoping revenge will be the answer to help them feel better. However, in reality, seeking revenge is not as great as you might think..."

Hello Friends!

We're so happy to be taking steps towards all in-person counseling once again. This pandemic has been difficult for all of us, and mental health has proven to be in great need through it all.

Right now, we are still taking new clients, and we are working to get some more therapists hired to meet the growing demand for mental healthcare.

As for masks, they are now 100% optional! If you would like to wear a mask during your session, you are more than welcome to, and our therapists will wear a mask as well if that is what you prefer. We are also no longer doing temperature checks at the door and we will still have hand sanitizer readily available in multiple locations throughout our office.

We are so excited to be at what appears to be the tail end of COVID, and we're looking forward to increased normalcy.

If you would like to schedule an appointment to meet with one of our counselors, please don't hesitate to call us at 563-355-0780.

Thanks so much!
