Weather Reminder.......Paula's policy is that if school is cancelled, she is cancelled! The office will call or message you to reschedule or discuss if virtual appointments are available. Please stay safe!!

07/06/2023

Effective immediately, we have a new policy regarding first time appointments. A $50 deposit will be required which is refundable when you show up for your appointment. Sorry for any inconvenience, but we have had a high volume of people who are not showing up for their appointments.
*Also, a reminder that you will be billed if you are a regular client who does not show up for a scheduled appointment!

07/06/2023

Once again, I would like to remind everyone to check their schedules and make sure you remember when you have an appointment. We do not send out reminders because we have a very small staff. Summer is a busy time, it is easy to overlook your appointments. If you have made an appointment and don't feel you can keep it, please all the office and we would be happy to change it for you, which allows us to fill the spot. You can also text our number at 563-349-4673 and leave us a message. Thank you and have a wonderful summer!

05/17/2023

Just a quick reminder that we do NOT send out reminder texts or phone calls to remind you of your appointment. We do not have the staff or the time to do this and require you to remember the appointments that you have scheduled. We do have appointment cards that you can request with all the written information of your time and date for upcoming appointments.

Tomorrow, March 2nd, Please join us in remembering a good friend of Liberty Counseling, Erica. She loved pink donuts with sprinkles and spread so much joy to everyone she met! We will be having pink sprinkled donuts tomorrow for our scheduled clients in our Bettendorf office to honor her! If you are not on the schedule for tomorrow with Paula, Matt or Kayla, we encourage you to treat yourself to a pink sprinkle donut from your favorite donut shop and think of Erica and spread moments of joy. 🥰

Trumann Arkansas needs your support. My daughter-in-law and office manager Melissa has cousins that live in Trumann. The town was leveled, and the nursing home was hit as you probably saw in the news. Melissa, her sister Christy, my granddaughter Teagan and I will be headed down there to cook meals and offer emotional support at the cousins church. I have a friend that lives in Jonesboro 30 minutes away and we will be staying with her in order to save as much money as possible and use whatever monies we raise to go towards food and any other support we can offer. I AM ASKING for donations in the form of gift cards to SAM's or VISA so we can buy food in Arkansas to help the people and the economy there. Donations need to be received by Dec 26.....short time frame I know. We thank you, and the people of Trumann thank you ahead of time. IF you are uncomfortable with donating gift cards, you can write a check to: 1st Pentacostal Church of Trumann and I can deliver it to them. You can drop off donations at the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church 914 N Chicago Street (Dec 20-22), or at 643 E Wells St. Geneseo, IL. (Dec 20-26), or MidWest Mailworks 218 3rd Ave, Rock Island.

March can be a very difficult month. The promise of Spring does not comfort people suffering with depression and hopelessness. As a result, March is often the high period for people contemplating su***de. Check on the people in your life who have isolated, especially during this last year of COVID-19 restrictions. Call my office and set up an appointment if you are in need to talk to someone who cares.

SALT DOUGH EASTER EGGS - So need to do this with the kids

Helpful Hints for This Time
#1. Immune Boosting foods and Supplements.....citrus fruits, red bell pepper, broccoli, garlic (which will help with social distancing), ginger, spinach, yogurt, almonds, turmeric, green tea, papaya, kiwi, poultry, sunflower seeds, shellfish, Vitamins C,A, D, B6 and E, Zinc, and probiotics.
#2. Make your own hand sanitizer....2/3 Cup of 70% or more rubbing alcohol 1/3 Cup Aloe Vera gel.
#3. Participate in brain calming activities....exercise, reading, journaling or creative writing, take a drive, color or any creative outlet, long shower or bath, reduce caffeine, listen to music, clean a closet or drawer, focus on deep breathing, burn candles or diffuse essential oils that contain lavender, sandalwood, bergamot orange, chamomile, clary sage, lemon, or rose, FOCUS/LIST all of the positive things in your life, STAY AWAY from constant checks of the news and social media.
#4. You might find that the only flour left in the store is self rising flour...because most people don't know what to do with it. This is actually a GOOD thing. Self rising flour is less likely to be infested with bugs over the long haul, so it stores better than regular flour. Self rising flour already has baking powder and salt added to it. 3 Cups of flour, 1 12 oz can of pop or beer, 3 Tablespoons of sugar mixed and put into a greased bread pan.....plus 1/4 Cup of melted butter poured over the top....bake at 375 for 50 minutes.....and you have bread.
The MOST important thing to remember is that this WILL pass, do what you can to empower yourself, remember the great and good things in your life!!! Keep yourself busy doing things and don't get into the habit of not caring for yourself or doing anything constructive.

Out of respect for our clients, we at Liberty Counseling are offering counseling on the phone, if you are concerned about being out in public due to the Corona Virus. We plan on continuing face to face counseling at the office as usual. Due to the panic that is spreading, we ask that if you have a cough, sore throat, or fever, that you not come in to the office. You can reschedule your appointment or take advantage of phone/Skype counseling. We have plenty of Germ X in the office to use upon your visit. Kelli Karsten, our Liberty University grad student will still be seeing clients too. For further information or questions, call our office at 563-349-4673.
