Blushing over these pink decorative accents that every girl should have showcased in her space đ©·đ
After 17 years behind the steering wheel at Verve, I can say with full certainty that my most favorite part of this service business is returning to work on a former clientsâ home. There is literally no better feeling for me than being asked back to work again with a beloved client. These projects last a while and in that time, close bonds are formed and after its natural ending, we all get busy and itâs hard to get that quality time again. The feeling of returning to a former clientsâ home for me is like going home for Christmas. It is sentimental and familiar.
I am a firm believer in the Law of Attraction and am so grateful for many of the amazing people and families that have been sacred building blocks in my body of work. In the end, I subscribe to the universal belief that at the root of it all is Love, Authentic Love. Plain and simple. It is what I have tried to impart in my work and it is thankfully what has been returned to me in spades by the wonderful humans I have been blessed to serve.
I have the pleasure of returning to these clientsâ Simsbury home to reimagine a new space for them. Lucky me.
Merry Christmas, Xo

This dining/living room captures the spirit and lifestyle of my client. Sheâs eclectic, traveled and has lead a life filled with wonderful layers and interesting objects she collected along the way. Weaving in the new to support her beloved collectibles was my mission. It was a joy to work with them and I think we found that balance.

Discovering the artistry in every corner of this kitchen. At the intersection of design, functionality and investment with the goal of creating a warm and timeless environment is the bedrock of smart kitchen design. Balancing aesthetics with practicality, a well-designed kitchen is not just a space; itâs a living experience. Invest in the heart of your home, where every detail matters.
The weather turned, and boy, did it turn this week! I found myself complaining about the cold and then I came across this picture taken a few weeks ago at my CT lake house project. There is no place like New England in the fall! Itâs a visual reminder that through change there is beauty and itâs just a matter of being still enough to appreciate whatâs right in front of you.
The earthy palette of this lake house project was designed for this fleeting season of color. As always, I loved collaborating with who cared enough to invest the time into figuring out how to build this custom sized and colored trestle base to support this striking stone veneer wrapped top. It was a âprojectâ but the investment of time, education and creativity that went into this effort lead to a beautiful reward for my clients. And these custom sized, performance dining chairs upholstered by my old friends at provided the ample seat depth for my very tall clients and the balance of softness this space needs.
Now for the snow⊠my next lesson in appreciation!đł
Happy Thanksgiving! đŠđœđ
Over the hills and through the woods⊠our family thanksgiving tradition was always loading into a car packed with two boys and a 90 pound lab for Grammyâs home in DC. We disolved all parental rules and quietly gave thanks to the video Gods buried into the backsides of our headrests. My car was called Grey Mamba and every year I would burn the Grey Mamba mix onto a CD, our annual family song favorites that we played to pass the long hours in the car from New England. For us, Thanksgiving was Grammyâs hugs, Auntie Katieâs pies, Oliviaâs exuberance and Auntie Pamâs gentle care; football games with the Bâs at Lafayette School; Thanksgiving morning at the National zoo; a gaggle of extended family and friends; toasts to Grampy who we all missed terribly; four legged friends, and a finale of more cousin love in Reston with my brotherâs family as the last stop before the long trek home. These were good years, really special and good years that I am not sure we fully appreciated admits the flurry of those busy times.
Jim and I are making the long trek down this year with our Bernedoodle, Spotify and a far emptier car with one son living overseas and one sharing this year with his gfâs family. And so, I reflect on how precious it all is and how fast the seasons change. We get used to our new normals, remember the good times, raise a toast to Grammy and Grampy who we all miss terribly, and give thanks for family and abundant love.
May this holiday bless you with the love of family, friends and new memories to be grateful for. Much loveâ€ïž
Not all transformations unfold in the spotlight; sometimes, they grace the transition spaces. Witness the metamorphosis of a lifeless hallway in a Connecticut home. Enter the stage, 32-foot masterpiece of Mamluk handknotted runners, a testament to the intricate artistry of an Afghan family. A silent connection, uniting two families across continents through the threads of a shared story.
A new chapter unfolds with the addition of these beautiful, colorful runners. Amidst the blue and green hues, little feet embark on a journey, eventually growing into big strides that echo through the lively walls, shaping the vibrant story of this transition space.
Music has this incredible ability to transport us through time and trigger vivid memories. Just yesterday, during my Uber ride to Orlando Airport, the iconic piano start âbump-bump-bumpâ of Elton Johnâs âBennie and The Jetsâ played on the radio, and both the driver and I were nodding along in sync. Seriously, one of the best songs ever!!
Hearing it instantly took me back to a memorable project where I had to install an Elton John signed guitar, among other priceless signed guitars, into custom cabinets in a music-tasting room.
The mix of awe and fear, ensuring that they were hung securely, made it one of my most challenging installations. Thankfully, meticulous planning and a pair of gloves to combat my sweaty palms paid off, creating a seamless experience. I will always be grateful to my niece, , was there to assist as my guitar-whisperer!
Elton Johnâs music will forever be inextricably linked to this beloved project, thanks to my incredibly cool clients. đ
Now, if only I had a pair of those electric boots to complete the experience!

Serving up a new week with this double island kitchen. The kitchen island has become a popular amenity today as a workspace, storage, dining and gathering vehicle in our culinary centers, but one of its most intriguing characteristics is its historical background. In the 1800's, lone standing work tables gained popularity as a place in front of the hearth for food preparation, sparking the âislandâ notion (think Downton Abbey). Along with mid 1900âs design, Franklin Loyd Wright further popularized the island by curating kitchens for his clients, who yearned for a space facilitating entertainment and a sort of hub in the home. As the 1900âs progressed, Julia Child took advantage of the island as an opportunity to cook and engage with her guests at the same time. For Child, the island provided a space where her skills could become a form of entertainment and show. Kitchen islands have now become known for their stage of entertainment, functionality, and personality in peoplesâ homes. This double island kitchen reminds us of the history encapsulated in our beloved amenity.
Stylish, balanced, comfortable, customized and collected⊠a few of the tenets of a well-lived room.
The need for two seating areas with very specific functionality was supported by these gorgeous 28 foot antique hemlock beams added to unify and âgroundâ the space while a soft palette of blues and whites helped to subdue the significant amount of seating.
Voila! Experience the perfect blend of technology and style in your kitchen with an innovative design concept: a hidden TV panel integrated into the side profile of a refrigerator cabinet. For this purpose, it serves the banquette seating area of a busy family of five on the go.
It's the ultimate combination of style and functionality that seamlessly integrates entertainment into a culinary haven while maintaining a visually appealing environment.
Did I mention I love designing cabinetry?
Every year, I remind myself that the patriotic palette needs a little attention in my portfolio but it always breaks pink!
