Free shuttle service launched in Bigfork following bridge's closure After the closure of the Bigfork's Bridge Street Bridge, several local businesses began to think about a shuttle service. With the help of the Bigfork Area Chamber of Commerce’s Fund the Fork initiative, a six-seat electric Ryd shuttle launched this month.

RARE JOB OPENING OPPORTUNITY!! Full time preserve & syrup cook at Eva Gates Homemade Preserves, a 75 year old family owned & operated business in Bigfork, Mt! Besides cooking, you will also get to experience washing huckleberries (when in season), help with packing & shipping during the busy holiday season, answer phone lines, take phone orders, and working some on the retail side. This position, you must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time and be able to lift 30+ lbs. Hours of shift would be Mon-Fri 8am-4pm. We've had many people ask about how they can contribute to maintaining our hall...This is it!!! We do one fundraiser a year and all proceeds go back to the Swan River Community Hall. This is not only a great way to help us out, it is SO much fun.

Looking for a summer job or just simply want something outside of home to do? Eva Gates Homemade Preserves will be set up at the Bigfork Job Fair on March 20th! We are seeking full and part time employees for the 2024 summer season! This year is especially important to us because it's our 75th Anniversary, family owned and operated!! 🥳🤩 We can't wait to see all our visiting customers this summer!! It will be a great season this year!! Hope to see many smiling faces at the Job Fair as well!!

Eva Gates - Homemade Preserves, Syrups and gifts and shopping from Bigfork, Montana For over 60 years the Gates family has helped define the taste of Northwest Montana. In 1949 Eva used her grandmother's recipe and her wood cook stove to make preserves from the excess yield of her strawberry patch.

EVA GATES STORY
In 1949, Eva Gates' strawberry patch was unusually abundant. Instead of letting all those strawberries go to waste, Eva made some preserves with a recipe handed down to her by her grandmother. The jars she gave away were so well liked by her friends and neighbors they began asking for them, even offering to pay! When she mentioned to her husband, George, that she wished she could make a business out of it, he told her "If something was good enough, people would buy it!"
This year marks our 75th Anniversary and we couldn't be more excited and George couldn't have been more right!! But what makes us even happier are all our customers. The generations of families that has grown up eating our homemade preserves and syrups. We're always so excited to hear your stories! We've laughed and cried over so many. We are eager to hear more of them throughout the years to come! So please, if you'd like to share yours, no matter how big or little it is, we'd love to hear it.
