Creator God, we acknowledge
The 400 years of slavery and pain
Your children stolen from Africa endured
We acknowledge the sin of racism
That continues to sully our nation,
That continues to stir violence.
Hear our prayers for healing.
Creator God, we celebrate
The strength of our communities,
Who keep the faith,
Who keep the hope alive
That healing is always possible,
That we can become the nation
We aspire to be, with respect for all.
Where every person can live
Secure in dignity and with peace
Creator God, we give thanks
For the end of the enslavement
Of your beloved children
Hear our prayers for the end of racism
Prayers that move us to prophetic action,
So all the promises of freedom
Will be fully realized in our nation. Amen.
Prayers for AJ and his family. Please consider donating to help.
GoFundMe for rising CV senior paralyzed in swimming accident A 17-year-old rising senior at Chenango Valley High School was in a serious swimming accident and suffered a severe spinal cord injury.
Let us praise those fathers who have striven to balance the demands of work, marriage, and children with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice.
Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model for a father, have worked to become a worthy and virtuous father.
Let us praise those fathers who, by their own account, were not always there for their children, but who continue to offer those children, now grown, their love and support. As well, let us pray for those fathers who have been wounded by words and actions of their children.
Let us praise those fathers who, despite marital discord, have remained in their children's lives.
Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted, and whose love and support has nurtured a thriving life.
Let us praise those fathers who, as stepfathers, freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and earned their step children's love and respect.
Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death, and continue to hold the child in their heart.
Let us praise those men who have no children, but cherish the next generation as if they were their own.
Let us praise those men who have "fathered" us in their role as mentors and guides.
Let us praise those men who are about to become fathers; may they openly delight in their children.
And let us praise those fathers who have died, but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us.
We make this prayer through our Holy Father in Heaven. Amen. 🙏

Patients in need are counting on YOU to come DONATE BLOOD!
Just think with emergency situations when there’s no time to determine a patient’s blood type, doctors reach for type O blood, which is critical to always maintain in hospital shelves and help patients in need. So those with type O are especially in need. You can find out your blood type after you donate!
This is one of the best things you can do to help others! Please come out to support this worthy cause. One donation could save up to 3 lives! Come give blood on Saturday, June 15th from 8:30AM--1:30PM in the parish hall! Donate blood from June 15th--30th for a $15 e-gift card.

On this Memorial Day, grant peace to the souls of all those soldiers who died in war. We remember the tears and grief of their families, the pain of mothers, wives, husbands, and children who lost precious loved ones. To build a meaningful memorial to them, we ask God to give us all the will to work for peace around the world so no more sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, nor mothers are slaughtered by the guns and weapons of war. We ask Mary, who held the lifeless body of her son and was pierced by the sorrow of his suffering and death, to grant us the compassion and wisdom to affirm life and honor the dead through forgiveness and peace-making. May God have mercy on the souls of the departed. Grant them peace, O Lord. May we have mercy on the living. Grant us peace, O Lord. In Your name we pray. Amen.

To the Moms who are struggling, to those filled with incandescent joy.
To the Moms who are remembering children who have died, and pregnancies that miscarried.
To the Moms who decided other parents were the best choice for their babies, to the Moms who adopted those kids and loved them fierce.
To those experiencing frustration or desperation in infertility.
To those who knew they never wanted kids, and the ways they have contributed to our shared world.
To those who mothered colleagues, mentees, neighborhood kids, and anyone who needed it.
To those remembering Moms no longer with us.
To those moving forward from Moms who did not show love, or hurt those they should have cared for.
Today is a day to honor the unyielding love and care for others we call 'Motherhood,' wherever we have found it and in whatever ways we have found to cultivate it within ourselves.
- Hannah Kardon, Pastor at Elston Avenue United Methodist Church

Come check out the pelican on May 19th during our stop on the Sacred Sites Tour.
Did you know we have a pelican carved by a German master woodcarver in our church? We received a message from BU architectural history professor, Julia Walker, indicating that the pelican carving on the altar was done and donated to St. Catherine's by Joseph F. Wolters. Info on the symbolism of the pelican feeding her babies in Catholicism can be found here: https://www.catholiceducation.org/en/culture/catholic-contributions/the-symbolism-of-the-pelican.html
