Today marks our FINAL installment of for the FA'23 Emerging Leaders Program (we're trying not to cry!) Instead of being sad that it's over, lets celebrate our Sports, Recreation, and Wellness KC and its outstanding mentors: Joseph and Riley!

Riley and Joe are already in sync in more ways than one- they are BOTH Biological Sciences majors who just finished up their time in ELP last Fall!

Riley wants her mentees to understand that leadership does not have just one definition; being a leader means having both confidence and insecurities, the ability to speak one's mind, as well as the courage to accept help when needed!

When Joe completed ELP, he formed such strong bonds with his fellow participants that are getting stronger to this day (almost a year after he began the program!) He would love for his mentees to gain that sense of belonging and friendship that he has felt since he joined.

Riley and Joe have been such great -sports- since they joined last year, and we know they're going to do so -well- as mentors now! 🏅 🏀 💕

ELP is wishing you all a happy Monday and an even HAPPIER edition of ! In the final week before FA'23 mentee applications are due, we're going to promote our Public Service KC! Let's look at our mentors Jestina and Andrew:

Andrew is an incoming junior who completed ELP in FA'21 (welcome back!) and will be returning to his first year experience as he will now have been both a mentee AND a mentor for the Public Service KC! Andrew wants students to know that the Binghamton University campus is both welcoming and accommodating, with many opportunities to explore your passions.

Jestina is an incoming sophomore who recently finished up her time as a mentee during FA'22 in the Environment and Ecology KC. ELP provided Jestina with confidence in herself as well as the ability to uplift the community and its members, so she wants her future mentees to experience this, too!

Andrew and Jestina are going to SERVE their mentees well! 🤗 🤝 💘

Today's shines a light on our wonderful Business and Entrepreneurship KC as we feature Dany and Sabrina!

Dany is a rising senior and transfer student who recently completed his time as a mentee during the FA'22 Emerging Leaders Program. Dany has loved holding various mentorship roles in his past, and is excited to take the skills he has gained and bring them to this mentor position!

Sabrina is also an incoming senior who participated in ELP during the FA'20 program (which was completely virtual!). Although her pandemic-affected first year of college was daunting, ELP still was able to provide her with great connections. Sabrina hopes to aid in those strong connections for her future mentees!

Sabrina and Dany are going to be fantastic mentors- nothing more to say.

-(Brief) Case closed!- 💼 💘

We're back with another edition of ! Today, we'll be featuring a former Mentee, Mentor AND Program Assistant all in one- Hannah! Watch the video below to see Hannah's feelings about the Emerging Leaders Program and why our new first year and transfer students should apply:

Today's features our wonderful Global Awareness and Citizenship KC- let's hear about Hannah and Bryan!

Bryan was a mentee in the Sports, Recreation, and Wellness KC during the FA '22 semester while balancing his involvement in the Watson College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Bryan wants to encourage all mentees to take it slow, as it's crucial to take breaks throughout any process (very important to remember during the completion of the service learning project!)

Hannah is a transfer student in the School of Management (both first year AND transfer students are eligible to apply for the Emerging Leaders Program!) who was also a mentee in the Business and Entrepreneurship KC last fall. Hannah urges our new mentees to be themselves while making both networking and interpersonal connections with other students.

Having Hannah and Bryan as mentors is such a treat, and we know they're going to give their mentees the -world-! 🌍 💞

Because of the connections that the Emerging Leaders Program allows for and the lasting impact it has on students for years after they've finished their time in the program, we wanted to highlight some ELP alum with another feature- !

One of our beloved ELP alum, Jubie Tan, spoke a bit about her experience with ELP and why our incoming first year and transfer students should apply below:

Name: Jubie Tan
Hometown: Long Island, NY
ELP Participation (when you participated, which KC you were & what year): Arts & Humanities (Mentee, '20), Global Awareness & Citizenship (Mentor, '21)
What pushed you to apply for the Emerging Leaders Program?: I wanted a diverse community of thinkers who can be friends and collaborators throughout my college experience.
What was your favorite memory from ELP?: My favorite memory was the scavenger hunt at the beginning of the program. I enjoyed exploring the campus and taking funny photos with A&H mentees. It gave me a stronger sense of belonging, especially at the height of COVID-19.
How has ELP shaped your time at Binghamton? Your life in general?: After ELP, I developed a greater interest in understanding the region I call home, whether that is my neighborhood or the world at large. I became more civically engaged, volunteering at local high schools and advocating for improved mental health services. Above all, ELP taught me that I can leave a meaningful impact on others. I hope to continue mentoring others as I progress through my career.

If what Jubie said resonates with you at all, apply for the Fall '23 Emerging Leaders Program cohort. The application closes on July 30th! 💚 👏

We continue highlighting our FA '23 staff with ! Today we're showcasing our Environment and Ecology Knowledge Community and its mentors, Sara and Brett!

Sara is an incoming sophomore, was a mentee in the FA '22 semester, and wants her mentees to develop not just as leaders, but as human beings, too.

Brett is also an incoming sophomore and a former FA '22 mentee. Brett encourages all of our incoming mentees to cherish this experience, and to view ELP as an experience to look back on for years to come!

The staff would not be complete without Sara and Brett as our E&E mentors. We know they're going to be -NATURALS- in the position! 🌳 🏞 🌊

07/13/2023

Today we'll begin highlighting our amazing FA '23 staff with a new installment across our social media platforms called ! Our first pair of mentors are from our Arts and Humanities Knowledge Community: Mari & Anthony!

Anthony is an incoming sophomore, was a mentee in the FA '22 semester, and is most excited to aid in the strengthening of relationships between ELP mentees and Binghamton (whether that is with the University, fellow students, or the local community)

Mariana is also an incoming sophomore and a former FA '22 mentee, and loved participating in the program last year because she enjoyed meeting other first year and transfer students as well as broadening her definition of leadership.

We're so happy to have Mari and Anthony as our A&H mentors this upcoming Fall, and we know they'll help to paint a picture of what leadership means for our new mentees! 🎨 🎭🎥
