Meet the Nancys, Nancy Collins and Nancy Larrison! When they are not busy doing ultrasonography in the office, they like to spend their vacation time doing medical missions all over the world. We, along with our patients, LOVE the Nancys!

We at Sharp & Stone are excited about today’s announcement of a new partnership between the UAB Health System and St Vincent’s Hospital.

Since its founding in the 1960s, UAB hospital has garnered a national reputation as one of the finest teaching hospitals in the Southeast. At the same time, its mission remains providing quality healthcare to all of central Alabama. Their resources are very valuable in maneuvering the challenging landscape of healthcare in the U.S. and investing in St Vincent’s infrastructure.

Since its founding in the 1800s, St Vincent’s mission has been to bring compassionate and caring healthcare and ministry to the same region. Even though we are partnering, St Vincent’s will remain its own free standing facility with its own medical staff and hospital staff. We believe this is a synergistic relationship that will only improve healthcare in our city and region.

We at Sharp & Stone are excited about this arrangement. We will remain a private practice and will continue to care for our patients as we always have. It is a privilege to be your doctors.

Meet our nurse practitioner!

Virginia Howell, CRNP, obtained her nursing degree from Auburn University. She gained experience working in Labor & Delivery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital while pursuing her Nurse Practitioner degree. Virginia highly values the relationships she builds with her patients at Sharp & Stone, showing a strong commitment to their care. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active, walking her rescue dog, spending time with friends and family, and trying out new recipes. She is married to Will Howell, and they are active members of Mountain Brook Baptist Church.

Meet Dr. Goolsby!

Robert Goolsby, M.D is a Charlotte, NC native and a graduate of The University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his residency at UAB and is board certified in OB/GYN. He has been practicing in Birmingham since 1995 and joined our practice in 2003. Dr. Goolsby is an active member of Church of the Highlands and is married to Dr. Rupa Desai Goolsby, with whom he has three children. Additionally, he serves as the Medical Director of Sav-A-Life, Inc, a crisis pregnancy ministry.

Meet Dr. Stone!

“We take great pride in maintaining a small, welcoming office environment dedicated to providing excellent OB/ GYN care within a relaxed setting”. Dr. Tim Stone, a Lee University and UAB School of Medicine graduate, completed his OB/GYN residency at Emory University. Following his residency, Dr. Stone practiced in Tuscaloosa before establishing his practice in Birmingham in 1999. His practice focuses on obstetrics, hormone/menopausal management, and minimally invasive surgery. He is an active member of Metropolitan Church of God and is happily married to Tammy Lantrip Stone. They have two children, Will and Anna Claire.

Meet Dr. Sharp!

Dr. Charles Sharp, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his residency and internship at UAB Hospital. Board certified in OB/GYN, Dr. Sharp is committed to providing the best care for his patients in a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. Dr. Sharp has practiced in Birmingham since 1993. He attends the Cathedral Church of the Advent and is married to the former Jane Flynn of Albany, Georgia. They have three children, four grandchildren, and a fifth one on the way! His hobbies include outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, golf, and dog training.

We had a FUN staff appreciation week at Sharp & Stone! We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend!

It’s a bittersweet Friday at SSG! Today is Caroline’s last day with us. We are so sad to see her go, but we are so thrilled for the exciting new adventure that awaits her!
