Want to know more about homebirth? Here are some FACTS for you to know & strongly consider when choosing your birthing location & prenatal care:
1️⃣Home birth is a safe option for low-risk birthers and mothers, which honestly most are. It is an especially safe option for low-risk BIPOC clients who are at the highest risk of poor outcomes when entering the hospital system.
2️⃣Midwives ARE trained medical professionals who handle emergencies: shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, retained placenta, neonatal resuscitation, breech birth, and SO more!
3️⃣Remember that YOU should be the person deciding what’s best for you, your body, your baby, and your family. Home birth is a safe option for low-risk birthers and mothers, which honestly most are. Flashing back to this beautiful boy that was 11 pounds 14oz !!! And an unexpected cesarean 👶🏾🙏🏾
This family handled the unexpected with grace. This is why I discuss all possible birth outcomes so that families can pivot, know what their preferences are for most circumstances, and have language to communicate what's important to them to their birth team.
Sometimes things don’t go quite as planned, and a abdominal birth is what's best for mama and baby. But the right birth team can make all the difference..being surrounded by support, love, encouragement, and wisdom can mean the difference between peace and panic. One thing that .the.doula taught us is in this doula journey you have to be called to do it. These two ladies who I met through the mentorship program are amazing and genuine. Being new to all this we are learning together, supporting each other, and encouraging each other as well.
