Welcome our Artist of the Month for April, Frank Maturo!
From Frank:
Hello, my name is Frank Isaac Maturo. I am a 22 year old artist who lives in Bloomingdale, IL with my mother, father and pet dog. I graduated from the College of DuPage in 2023. However, I currently work serving samples at Costco through a company called Club Demonstration Services. My mother comes from Oaxaca, MX and my father is an American of Italian and German descent. I am also a proud member of the neurodivergent community (Autism/ADD). I have been doing art since I was three years old and I have been experimenting with an array of styles and mediums ever since. Some things I like to draw and paint are landscapes, dot mandalas, abstract pieces, otherworldly scenes, windmills, etc. Through my art I hope
to encourage those to follow their dreams as an artist and do art to make themselves happy.
Frank's art is displayed in our stairwell gallery and in the Take 5 Zone (lower level) gallery and display case.
Artwork is available for purchase. Please stop into the Business Office if interested.
May we offer you some new books? See a book you want? Click the cover to place a hold in our library catalog.

Day 2 of tile pickup, and we’ve distributed approximately 100 more tiles today in the first 1-1/2 hours. We’re here until noon today and 9am-noon on Friday. Hope to see you here!
Today solar eclipse will be visible (weather permitting) across nearly all of North America. All 50 U.S. states (excluding most of Alaska) will experience at least a partial solar eclipse, as will most of Canada, all of Mexico, and all countries in Central America. Anyone within a roughly 115-mile-wide path across Mexico, from Texas through Maine, across parts of Eastern Canada will experience a total solar eclipse, one of the most spectacular sights in all of nature.
Unfortunately, BPL is out of solar viewers (eclipse glasses). Please check with other local libraries who may still have some available. For other viewing options without glasses, visit these websites:

Bloomingdale Public Library, in conjunction with the Village of Bloomingdale, is working to retrieve the tiles made and installed at Stratford Square in the 1999 Stratford Squares for Lifelong Learning fundraiser. Residents who made tiles will have the chance to pick up their tiles from the mall during scheduled times. Please visit our website at https://www.mybpl.org/tiles for all of the details.

In addition to taking practice tests, a tip for successful test preparation is to explain your answer to others. This helps you get a clear idea in your head AND highlights any areas where you may need to build skills. But it may not be easy to find someone to explain the answers to. Connect with a Brainfuse tutor to review practice tests and build your skills. Visit https://mybpl.org/homeworkteens for more information.
We had a great time last week with our Potty Party program!
For children ages 1-5, toddlers of all stages of potty training were invited to a party with stories and songs to encourage and motivate potty training. No more diapers, it’s time to use the potty!

In 1999, Bloomingdale Public Library partnered with Stratford Square Mall for the 'Stratford Squares for Lifelong Learning' fundraiser, supporting the creation of a new library computer lab. The Village of Bloomingdale's recent acquisition of the mall for redevelopment prompted a collaboration between the Village and the Library to preserve the tiles installed as part of the project. We are currently developing a plan and will announce further details soon.
If you have a tile on the display walls, please watch for updates in the April Village Almanac, Village Residential e-news, and BPL Bulletin.
