Continuing our monthly support of homeless Veterans at Jesse Brown VAMC in Chicago we delivered $600 worth of microwaveable food as well as snacks this morning. Serving is what Bloomingdale VFW 7539 does.

New Year and new start to donations. Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 has once again committed to supporting VA facilities in the area with food donations for 2024. This drop off was made Wednesday to Jesse Brown VA in Chicago.

Support us in providing food to Veterans in need by making just a $5.00 per month donation. 100% (excluding credit card fees) go to purchasing food to be distributed by VA facilities to Veterans in need.

This morning Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 delivered more than 50 hand made quilts and fleece blankets donated by Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle to Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. Needless to say the SUV was packed. Working with community partners is what Bloomingdale VFW 7539 does as it continues to serve.

So yesterday members of Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 visited Friendship Village (an assisted living facility) in Schaumburg, IL to have some coffee and donuts and just to share stories with the resident Veterans. We chatted with a 99 year old WW2 Veteran who was in the OSS...and he was as share as a tack. It makes no difference the age, Veterans can always share a story. Fun was had by all. Bloomingdale VFW 7539 continues to serve the Veteran community in many forms.

Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 just concluded its annual Winter Clothing Drive for Veterans being served by the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center Homeless Program in Chicago.

This year we collected 300+ winter coats, 350+ sweaters, 150+ other items. The Post also purchased 672 4-Piece Sets consisting of a Hat, Gloves, Scarf and Socks at a cost of $3,200.

Thanks to the Village of Bloomingdale and all who made a donation...another successful event for our Veterans!

Friday the final 17 bags of clothing was picked up from the Bloomingdale Village Hall and Library. Stored in a members garage they were delivered Monday to the Jesse Brown VAMC Homeless program for distribution to Veterans and their families in need.

This morning Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 dropped off needed food items for the Hines VA Joliet CBOC Food Pantry. As the holidays are approaching it is incumbent on all VFW Posts to step up and start serving our fellow Veterans in need. It's what Bloomingdale does!

One of the many issues facing female Veterans with babies is the ever increasing cost of diapers and baby wipes. When hearing of this issue Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 contacted Jesse Brown VAMC in Chicago to determine how much funding would be needed to support a yearlong program to provide those items. Yesterday members of Bloomingdale VFW 7539 presented to leadership at Jesse Brown VAMC checks totaling $5,000 to fund a program for one year for these women Veterans. Serving Veterans is what Bloomingdale VFW 7539 continues to do!

Another load of winter clothing was delivered to Jesse Brown VA in Chicago to help Veterans in need this morning by Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539. The clothing drive will last for another couple of weeks so more trips will be coming up. Serving Veterans is what Bloomingdale 7539 does!

This morning Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 dropped off its monthly donation of food to Jesse Brown VA in Chicago. By chance the program manager was coming in so we got our pic taken with items. Come to find out what we donate is about 1/2 of their needs. If our single VFW Post can provide 1/2 of their needs doesn't it make sense that the 10-15 posts in Chicago could do the other half? Whatever the case, Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539 will continue to serve!
