Nechville Banjos

Home of the revolutionary Heli-Mount banjo

Normally this time of year you would find Sandy Hazlett somewhere in Singapore, playing his banjo. He and his wife would travel there to spend the holidays with her family. He would even keep an instrument there year round so he would not have the hassle of flying with one.

He was a man of many interests; sailing, vintage automobiles, s***t shooting, paint and of course banjo.

I got the news two days ago that he had passed away. RIP, Sandy. And keep picking.

Sad - My Uzbekistan picker statue fell off the shelf today. Too many small fragments to finish the Superglue job. This was given to me as a thank you for providing a banjo to Uzbekistan’s banjo Star Janna Kim.

Introducing the new Nechville Vintage Eclipse Billy Failing model!

Billy has this to say about his Vintage Eclipse: “This model’s playability, sustain and clarity inspires experimentation of new modern sounds, while its dynamic range allows the instrument to respond to a full range of musicality, from soft tones to aggressive bluegrass picking. As someone who needs an instrument that does it all - I feel this banjo fits the bill.”.

Our mutual friend Jim Allen provided this short obituary of one of our dear customers…
We morn the passing of Jim Bova...a "pretty darned good banjo picker".. who owned a top-of-the-line Nechville. He and his wife Kathy lived in Naples Florida. Jim and Kathy were both avid followers of bluegrass music. Jim was instrumental in organizing the VIP fan section of the Kruger Brothers debut of Crossroads Ogden. I sat close to Jim that night as ballet dancers twirled about and couldn't help but notice he and I were both crying with jubilant emotion, having never seen such a spectacle featuring the banjo. He will be missed.... RIP Jim
