As a proud female entrepreneur in the construction industry, I stand on the shoulders of generations of homebuilders in my family and I embrace the spirit of National Women in Construction Week with pride and gratitude.

In this traditionally male-dominated field, being an outsider is a secret superpower, and brings fresh perspective and innovative approaches. While some may see barriers, I see opportunities to excel and redefine norms. My experiences have taught me that success in construction is not gender-specific; it’s about dedication, skill, and vision.

Being a licensed builder and owning my own company allows me to create a supportive environment where diversity is celebrated, and talent thrives. Collaboration, problem-solving, and attention to detail are at the core of what we do, and these are qualities that transcend gender.

With that said, I firmly believe women bring unique strengths to construction – communication, adaptability, and a holistic view of projects, to name a few. Whether it’s managing a team, negotiating contracts, designing plans, features and finishes or overseeing site operations, we excel in every aspect of the business.

As we commemorate this special week, let’s continue to champion diversity and inclusion in the construction industry.
