As we observe Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, we pay tribute to the 6,000,000 individuals who were tragically and unjustly killed solely because of their Jewish identity. By preserving their narratives, we actively combat all forms of hatred and prejudice. Let their bravery and resilience serve as a catalyst for us to strive towards a future where discrimination and persecution no longer exist.

On this Art Day, we honor Nelly Toll, a survivor of the Holocaust who found solace in writing, painting, and creativity during her time in hiding. Her vivid watercolors and writings have captured the spirit and resilience of those who suffered during the Holocaust. Her legacy as an artist and teacher continues to inspire and educate others.

Dr. Toll's dedication to social justice and the eradication of anti-Semitism serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking out against hate and bigotry in all its forms. Let us honor her memory and continue her legacy by promoting empathy, understanding, and compassion.

Here are some interesting tidbits you might not know about the essential, delicious traditional bread called Challah:

๐Ÿฅ– The word challah in the Torah first occurs when Gโ€‘d describes to the Jewish people what life will be like for them in the Land of Israel:
๐Ÿฅ– Two loaves of bread on Shabbat and holiday tables represents the double portion of manna with which Gโ€‘d fed the Jewish people as they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years after leaving Egypt.
๐Ÿฅ– Not all challah loaves are the same. Many Sephardi Jews bake simple loaves of โ€œwaterโ€ challah, containing no eggs, sugar or other sweeteners.
๐Ÿฅ– When the ancient Temple stood in Jerusalem, 12 challahs were displayed on a gleaming golden table, opposite the golden menorah. These were changed weekly and represented each of the 12 tribes of Israel who together formed one whole: the Jewish people.

Meet Leiba Rudolph, a Woman of Valor who reflects on her life and her decision to become observant in the Jewish faith. She describes how she was always troubled by the arbitrariness of life and was obsessed with finding a deeper truth that could transcend one's life circumstances. In 1987, she and her husband attended a Chabad Shabbaton with Rabbi Sholom Lipskar, which led them to become observant in the Jewish faith. Leiba sees this decision as a tremendous merit and as an opportunity to bring Moshiach the ultimate happy ending in her lifetime.

At the event last week, we had the delightful opportunity to honor Melanie Kelfer, an extraordinary woman and the visionary behind Operation Mordechai.

Operation Mordechai was initiated as a time-sensitive mission to cater to the urgent humanitarian needs of refugees who had fled Ukraine to safer locations. Melanie and her team provide refugees and their supporters with various essentials, including medical supplies, food, clothing, hygiene products, children and baby items, school supplies, and shelter assistance.

Besides her philanthropic pursuits, Melanie is also the founder of IBC, Ltd, a company specializing in buying and selling new excess and used computer parts and systems. Additionally, she previously served on the Board of Directors of For the Love of Life, a wish-granting charity for individuals affected by AIDS.

Thank you, Melanie! We appreciate all that you do for those in need.

Rachie Schnay, the owner of Rachie Schnay Jewelry, has always been surrounded by jewels and watched how her mother ran her own successful jewelry company for twenty years. Over the past few years, the market has become inflated and expensive, making it inaccessible for many. Rachie was inspired by the 'Warby Parker' approach and decided to create a line of fine jewelry that is gorgeous, fun, timeless, rich, colorful, chic, relatable, sparkly and most of all accessible to everyone!

Her collections are full of love, meaning, and passion. As a grandchild of Holocaust survivors, Rachie wanted to create a collection that embodies her Jewish identity and embraces her heritage.

We look forward to being with her tonight at the From Chanel to Shabbat event!
