Meet Sydney Whitaker, a beautiful 9-year-old from Jupiter, Florida, who has been bravely battling brain cancer. For the past eight months since her diagnosis, Sydney has been undergoing chemotherapy and enduring invasive surgeries to remove a brain tumor almost the size of a golf ball. When she awoke from one of these surgeries, it was evident that she had suffered facial paralysis. Doctors informed the Whitaker family that Sydney would require a facial nerve reanimation procedure to regain movement on the right side of her face and restore her smile.

To perform this specialized surgery in Boston, Sydney needed approval from her oncologist and had to schedule the procedure within a critical window dictated by her blood counts and the timing since the onset of paralysis. As Sydney is currently undergoing chemotherapy, is immunocompromised, and has recently been hospitalized due to low blood counts, commercial travel was not a safe option. Recognizing these challenges, Goose Flights stepped in and safely transported Sydney and her parents to Boston, where she will undergo the facial nerve reanimation procedure to bring back her beautiful smile! 😃

Meet sweet Lyla, a 2-year-old from Port St. Lucie, FL, who has been battling a suprarenal neuroblastoma on her right side. She was admitted to Nemours Children’s Hospital on 3/29/24 and experienced pleural effusion in her lung due to the tumor, resulting in a deflated lung and requiring 24 hours on a ventilator. After undergoing two rounds of chemotherapy, she now needs surgery to remove the tumor located just above her kidney. This specialized surgery is performed at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City.

Today, Goose Flights had the privilege of flying Lyla and her family to New York. With Lyla’s current state and her weakened immune system, commercial travel was not an option for the family and they were going to have to face a 17-hour drive. By providing this transportation we can ensure that Lyla will enter into surgery in the best possible condition.

Meet Andrew, a 15-year-old Goose Flights recipient bravely confronting the challenges of autism, PTSD, ADHD, and multiple mental health conditions, which eventually led to addiction.

Recognizing the need for professional assistance, Andrew embarked on a journey toward recovery. Goose Flights played a crucial role in this process by safely transporting Andrew from Baltimore, Maryland, to Montana, where he could access the intensive treatment and therapy essential for his well-being.

Flying can be challenging for those with autism due to the sensory and environmental factors in commercial air travel. Risks include sensory overload, unpredictability, security procedures causing distress, limited personal space, and more.

This journey is a testament to the transformative impact of our non-emergency medical transportation services. Andrew was an excellent passenger on this Citation X private jet and we all had a lot of fun together.

We are beyond excited to launch this beer and partner with PressBox in doing so. This is such a fun way to not only keep Tony Siragusa’s legacy alive, but to spread the word about Goose Flights and all the ways we can support families and individuals through our non-emergency medical transportation services.

As we approach the conclusion of 2023, Goose Flights is eager to spotlight some of the recipients we had the privilege of assisting this year through our non-emergency medical transportation services. In collaboration with Titan Aviation Group, we facilitated jet charters for these families, along with ground transportation, ensuring swift and comfortable travel to crucial medical appointments and treatments. While respecting privacy, we would like to share a glimpse into the experiences of a few recipients who we were able to touch the lives of thanks to all of our GENEROUS supporters.

1. Cayden Winstead - A Remarkable Super Bowl Experience:
Cayden holds the distinction of being our first ever Goose Flights recipient, and for his unique journey, we opted for an extraordinary approach. Instead of a conventional flight, we orchestrated an entire Super Bowl experience for Cayden. This special initiative marked the commencement of our Foundation's transportation component. Enduring a severe brain injury, Cayden harbored a wish to attend the Super Bowl, and we were honored to fulfill this dream in celebration of his remarkable recovery. (Special thank you to Kindred Hospitals, Jacob Ullman, OJ Anderson, and more!)

2. Andrew Koenig - Overcoming Osteosarcoma:
Andrew, a brave recipient of Goose Flights, battled Osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Enduring intense chemotherapy and the challenging amputation of his leg and part of his pelvis, Andrew required specialized surgery in Houston, TX. Goose Flights provided safe jet charter and ground transportation, ensuring his comfort and minimizing the risk to his compromised immune system during travel back to his home state. Proud to support Andrew's journey, we remain committed to facilitating manageable medical travel for those in need.

3. The Huskey Family - Military Family Heart Conditions:
Lieutenant Joseph Huskey, facing challenges with his children Lawson and Rose and their severe heart conditions, needed transportation for a crucial week-long trip to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. With Lieutenant Joseph's overseas deployment imminent, Goose Flights organized a jet charter and ground transportation, condensing their extensive travels into just over 24 hours. In collaboration with the Wish For Our Heroes Inc. Organization, this compassionate initiative not only eased the family's stress but also allowed them a Thanksgiving celebration before Josephs deployment. (Special thank you to Jeff Wells)

4. Unnamed Family - Immediate Medical Transport for 9-month-old baby:
Responding promptly to an urgent request, Goose Flights swiftly organized jet charter assistance within 24 hours for a family on vacation with a 9-month-old baby diagnosed with liver cancer. Coordinating seamlessly with Titan Aviation Group, Goose Flights arranged for a waiting car service outside the hospital upon the family's discharge. Simultaneously, an ASAP jet charter was secured to urgently transport the family to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In just 6 hours, the family was airborne, with all necessary transportation arrangements efficiently handled by Goose Flights. As we reflect on some of the lives Goose Flights has touched this year, we express our deepest gratitude to our donors, whose kindness has been the driving force behind every successful mission.
