Meet our intern Albert! .3genz is a junior exercise science major at FAU and has been with us for a few months now. Check out some of his upper body favorites!
1. Bench Press- notice how Albert sets his feet firmly on the ground, squeezes his glutes and makes sure to set his shoulder blades properly, giving him a slight arch in his back. Albert slowly lowers the bar to right below his breast bone with his elbows at a 45 degree angle.
2. T-Bar Row- Before he lifts the bar, Albert makes sure to hinge his hips back, flatten his back and engage his lats so that he can pick the weight up properly. He maintains this neutral spine throughout the whole exercise.
3. Standing Overhead Press - For safety, Albert starts with the bar on the rack, slightly below shoulder height and with catch bars engaged. As he presses the bar up, he moves his head out of the way as he fully extends his arms without rounding back.
4. Reverse Keiser Fly- With this motion, Albert makes sure to stand up tall, bring his straight arms back and engage his rear deltoids without over extension.
Shout out to our spotlight athlete !
Coach says it best “Ricky has been with us for the past few months and his consistent dedication and hard work has helped him to improve his strength, velocity, and pitching mechanics. Ricky went from throwing 81-83 to 83-85 in the few short months he’s been with us.”

Have you a scheduled your free FMS yet with one of our certified trainers? The FMS can be used for everyone from young athletes to older adults, regardless of fitness level.
“The FMS is our tool for standardized movement screening to see how an individual, no matter their age, is moving in everyday life. It takes into account both mobility and stability and equips the professional with information to make programming decisions with precision and purpose. It identifies movement patterns the individual moves well in, patterns that can be developed or loaded. But it also identifies patterns that are not ideal and need to be protected and corrected. In other words, there is no more guessing! At the end of an FMS, you will have valuable information for that individual to create a program specific to them to foster an environment to meet their goals and keep them healthy.”
Here at TBT Strength, the FMS is the first step in the journey to becoming a better and more well-rounded athlete. The screen is made up of 5 stability movements, including a squat and lunge pattern, 3 mobility movements and 4 clearing movements used to determine pain.
Once the screen is completed, your score will be added up and you will be sent a document with detailed results of each movement and what your score on that movement means. From there, you’ll be assigned corrective exercises based on the screen that will be the starting point for your journey at TBT. The goal is to correct those areas of immobility or instability to insure they don’t cause injury down the road.
