What Athens-Clarke County Extension does:
- Answers your lawn and garden questions over the phone, in person and through email
- Provides you with relevant electronic and print resources from UGA College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences
- Provides soil and water testing (fee)
- Submits your plant samples to the UGA Plant Pathology Lab (fee)
- Hosts free gardening classes taught by Athe
Our office will be closed Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th in observance of Independence Day. We will resume normal business operations on Monday, July 8th.
Please join us at ACC Extension this Saturday, June 15th, 9 AM-12 PM for our Open Garden Day Event! We will be celebrating 45 years of the Master Gardener program with a Garden Walk lead by Dr. Allan Armitage. The tour will be followed by lessons on beekeeping and maintaining bat and purple martin houses. Please make plans to join us!

Join us for our SNAP-Ed Food Talk: Better U class starting June 6th!
Food Talk: Better U is a series of 4 interactive sessions aimed at helping you identify ways to make small lifestyle choices that lead to a better u! Each session includes easy and fun exercises to help everybody move, a cooking demo, and tasting of healthy recipes. Participants receive free incentives at each session that promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle. Come ready to have fun and learn with others!

Please register and make plans to attend our April Green Thumb Lecture! Dan Long will be covering all things beekeeping as an introduction for those who may want to have their own hives! The lecture is April 17th, at 6 pm.
Please join us on Saturday, May 4th 1 pm to 3 pm for a hands-on workshop covering all things composting! Participants are invited to bring food scraps to create a compost pile. Please register at accgov.com/gardening.

Just a quick reminder about tomorrow's Green Thumb Lecture! Mateo Fennell, ACC Community Forester, will be discussing propagating trees from seeds and bareroot planting! Topics covered will be which trees can be started from seeds, gathering seeds, and proper planting techniques. There will be free trees available to take home! Registration is not required to attend.
