BOOKS ARE IN !! Our event with is THIS FRIDAY (4/12) — benefiting Faces of Hope

The author will share more about her research process with photos from the original case files, and she’ll also illuminate and speak to the ethical quandaries involved in the writing of a true-crime narrative.

About In Light of All Darkness:
Paced like a thriller and full of insider information on the history and science of Crime Scene Investigation, In Light of All Darkness embeds readers in one of the most famous true-crime stories of our generation—the kidnapping of Polly Klaas—a case as pivotal in the history of the FBI as the Unabomber or Oklahoma City bombing.
On October 1, 1993, a 12-year-old girl was kidnapped at knifepoint from her bedroom in Petaluma, California, during a sleepover with two friends, while her mother slept soundly in the room next door. This rarest of all kidnappings—a stranger abduction from the home—triggered one of the largest manhunts in FBI history.
Many Americans remember Polly’s face, which appeared on the national news every night, on the cover of People magazine, and on more than 8 million flyers distributed as far as China. The emotional gravity of Polly’s story touched every agent, police officer, and forensic technician who worked on her case. Many of these investigators have never shared their stories—until now.

it’s a good day to OPPOSE BOOK BANS & to SAVE OUR LIBRARIES — SIGN THE PETITION💥

https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edit?promo_id=22418

*Now is not the time for debating. We’ve turned off comments so folks can focus on the task at hand. Have a safe and fun Friday yall*

🚨🚨🚨 READERS UNITE — we need your help TODAY to oppose House Bill 710. It is up for debate in the Idaho Senate State Affairs on Wednesday 3/20 at 8AM in room WW55. The house has already passed this bill.

This bill is the new version of the anti library - censorship - book banning bills that a select number of folks are trying to push on us at the Idaho state level. This legislation would allow people to sue our libraries, simply because they don’t want LGBTQIA and Black stories to be seen, read, and heard. This legislation is unjust, it’s anti freedom. And we need to be loud. Use the links in our bio to testify 🗣️, give your reps a phone call ☎️ and send emails 📧 ASAP.

Talking points:

- HB 710 is anti library and anti freedom
- it is a waste of money
- it will harm our libraries and community use
- libraries already have measures in place for review
- we will not be supporting re-election of folks who vote in favor of this bill (these folks are up for re election later this year!).
- ask them to OPPOSE 710

Link to oppose virtually or in person!

TESTIFY. AMPLIFY. FIGHT BACK AGAINST BOOK BANS. SUPPORT OUR LOCAL LIBRARIES. ❤️

As always, only kind comments permitted here.

🚨 YALL — these guys are at it again. 🚨 MONDAY 3/11 they are going to try to push forward book banning legislation we already said we don’t want or need. They are resurrecting H 384 and introducing a new bill ( RS 31657, which won’t have details available until it’s an official bill).

Please email and write your legislators to oppose these anti library bills. I know we all are tired of this nonsense, but don’t let the bastards grind you down. Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum.

Here’s the link to oppose the bill (takes 3 min or less): https://legislature.idaho.gov/events/240311_hsta_0830am-h-384/

“There is more than one way to burn a book. And the world is full of people running about with lit matches.” ― Ray Bradbury

“Torch every book. Burn every page. Char every word to ash. Ideas are incombustible. And therein lies your real fear.” ― Ellen Hopkins

“Let children read whatever they want and then talk about it with them. If parents and kids can talk together, we won’t have as much censorship because we won’t have as much fear.” ― Judy Blume

SHARE. OPPOSE THE BILL. TELL YOUR FRIENDS.

Ashlee wrote a book and we want you to help us celebrate! We’re having a book launch event on Saturday, March 9 starting at 11 am at The Lit Room in Garden City.

Awaken Your Intuition: 90 Day Guided Journal of Self-Discovery
Intuition is your birthright. Everyone is intuitive and able to receive. This guided journal isn’t about teaching you how to be intuitive. It’s about opening yourself up in safety to come home to what has always been yours. You must move through the gateway of your ego to drop into your inner knowing and truth. All you need is the willingness to consider that underneath the fear, doubt, and noise there is a thread of truth and knowledge moving through you, available always.

Action is the antidote to despair. ❤️

Yesterday we were reminded that the loud voices do not represent the majority, as we gathered for the IDAHO FREEDOM TO READ 🇺🇸 rally at the Idaho Capitol building. We heard from legislators, authors, former librarians, and our community — coming together peacefully to show our pride and love of our libraries, and our shared commitment to the fundamental principles of knowledge, freedom of expression, and the right to access information. 📚

🚨 We aren’t done yet. Today we need your help to oppose House Bill 384, which is up for consideration on Monday, January 15th at 9am Mountain (MLK Jr. Day).

✨Here are some small actions you can take!

https://legislature.idaho.gov/events/240115_hsta_0900am-h-384/

1️⃣ Sign up to testify at Monday’s committee meeting

2️⃣ Write in virtually to object to this bill (mark AGAINST on the online form (you can do this from your couch 🛋️)

⭐️ ⭐️ Bonus — as part of your virtual write in, add your written testimony (minimum of 100 characters, no profanity, etc.)

3️⃣ Text 5 friends or family members to do the same!

4️⃣ Drop a 📚 in the comments once you’ve submitted your online testimony in solidarity for our libraries!

*Only kind comments permitted*
