Reasons to grow wildflowers:
1. Wildflowers are important for supporting pollinators and insects, which are essential for a healthy garden.
2. Wildflowers provide food, shelter, and breeding places for pollinators and insects.
3. Wildflowers benefit soil health.
4. Wildflowers require less water and maintenance than non-native plants.
5. Wildflowers are beautiful and add color and fragrance to the environment.

Come check out our lupine, honeysuckle, echinacea, rudbeckia, coreopsis and more native bloomers as well as wildflower seed packets.

Good news for your garden! Now is a good time to be starting some new veggies for a fall harvest.

If you didn't get veggies in this spring or have some garden space available, you can grow more veggies this summer and fall. There are so many vegetables that can be grown as the weather cools. Some of them (like carrots) actually get sweeter after the first frost!

Here are some great veggies to plant now or very soon from seed:
Swiss Chard
Beans
Carrots
Beets
Radishes (once it cools a little)
Peas (once it cools a little)
Arugula, Lettuce, spinach, kale (in the shade)
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage (start seeds indoors, then transplant when temperatures drop)

These seed packs are $1.89-$1.99 and can last multiple seasons. Come on down and check out our selection!

Come on down to the Home & Garden Store to see our beautiful hibiscus plants in bloom! We have them in many different colors, types and sizes. Some blooms are as big as a plate! Come get one to add to your yard to make it feel like a tropical oasis!

Another plant that will add color and flavor to your garden is blueberries. Blueberries are very high in antioxidants and very low in sugar. We have many varieties to choose from including Pink Lemonade (which tastes like a regular blueberry but has a bright pink color when ripe), Elliot, Huron, Duke and Top Hat. It is important to plant at least 2 different kinds of blueberries together for cross-pollination which will result in higher yields and larger fruits.

Don't forget to swing by for eggs. We have local eggs from Kuna in stock for $5.25 per dozen.

We're open every day for all of your home and gardening needs. See you soon!

Reasons you should get a bird bath:

They are beautiful piece of yard art
They are 20% off right now

They provide a place for birds to drink and bathe to remove tiny parasites from their feathers
Birds weigh themselves down with water which sends a natural signal for their bodies to get rid of excess weight

Did you know that there are over 300 species of roses and tens of thousands of cultivars (different types) of roses? We don't have them all but we do have quite a few here at the store.

Here are some of the types of roses we have in stock.

Floribunda: bears clusters of flowers on each stem

Grandiflora: similar to floribunda with clusters of flowers but with larger flowers

Rugosa: also known as "wild roses" and produce rose hips which people use to make tea

Hybrid tea: bears single, large flowers on tall, straight stems

Climbing: have a vining growth habit and can climb up trellises, walls and fences

Tree form: a rose bush grafted onto an upright smooth single stem or "tree trunk"

Come see and smell what we have in stock! 🌹 😀

FEEDBACK REQUESTED PLEASE! :)

We love supporting local businesses and want to be able to bring you more local goods here at The Home and Garden Store.

We are looking at what food items would be best to stock in the store and want your opinion.

We currently carry local Treasure Valley Honey from Parma, local eggs from Kuna, Pioneer Valley syrups from Utah, and are considering adding local clover milk, and Zeppole's bread from Boise.

Please comment below with the items you would be most interested in purchasing from us in the future. They could be from the items mentioned or others not listed.

Also, if you know someone who might be interested in supporting local businesses and would want to comment, please pass this along to them.

Thank you for your help!

Have you fed your babies today? I'm talking about your plant babies. The ones who are stuck in the same spot for years and years only getting water but desperately wanting to be fed...

If the answer is no, you should consider buying some fertilizer to help your plants grow vigorously.

How would I know which fertilizer to use? Let's start with the basics.

Each fertilizer bag has a N-P-K number on it.
N-P-K stands for Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). These are the 3 primary nutrients plants need to grow. The numbers on the label show the ratio (by percentage) of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium in the fertilizer.

"So what do they do?" you might be asking.

Nitrogen helps plants green up. This means a greener grass and more foliage on your bushes and shrubs.

Phosphorus helps encourage root growth and flower and fruit growth. This is great in the vegetable garden or flower garden.

And Potassium strengthens plants' abilities to resist disease and protects plants when the weather is cold or dry.

Each bag of fertilizer has recommendations on what it's for and how to use it. We would be happy to talk to you about this in person if you have questions.

So swing on by the Home and Garden Store today to see our fertilizer barn. We have fertilizer for every kind of plant and lawn.

We also have many other products available to:
Protect your lawn from weeds popping up
Help keep pests away
Break down clay in the soil
Help your trees produce more nuts
Etc.

We hope to see you soon!
