Chamber staff Sandy and Brandon traveled to Dallas for the annual conference. They had a great time and ran into some familiar faces.
We’re highlighting some of our wonderful BYP members so you can connect and grow your community. First up is Chelsia Neto, CDFI Coordinator at Connections Credit Union!
What brought you to Boise?
I am from Angola, specifically Luanda, which is in southern Africa. School led me to Boise, and I decided to stay because I enjoy the community here. Boise has become my second home.
What are your affiliations?
I am a Young Professional Board Member for Girls on the Run. I also serve on the board of directors for the southwest branch of the Idaho Credit Union League, BYP’s Professional Development Committee, and as the alumni representative chair for the College of Idaho’s Business Advisory Council in the business department.
What’s your favorite BYP event?
Lunch and Learn. These events provide crucial opportunities for young people to make relationships and engage in conversations about career progress and professional development.
What’s your biggest accomplishment?
In just three months, I learned English to complete an academic curriculum without support. After successfully graduating, this experience inspired me to found CD Master Center at 19 years old, a tutoring and mentorship center committed to student empowerment. My mission was to offer unique educational tools that promote student development and innovation. My experience as an entrepreneur was recognized here at the United States, when I presented CD Master Center at the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge in 2022. I was selected as one of Idaho’s top 24 entrepreneurs making me the only black woman and an international student on the list.
Congratulations to Boise Brew Putt on their ribbon cutting! We're thrilled to support this amazing addition to our community.

Please welcome Jordanne Machiela as the Boise Metro Chamber's new Event Manager!
“Hello! My name is Jordanne and I graduated in 2023 from Washington State University, go cougs! I was born and raised in Richland, Washington. Before the Chamber, I worked at the Boise Centre where I dipped my toes into the event world. In my free time I love being active in our beautiful city by golfing, snowboarding at Bogus, paddleboarding at Quinns Pond, coaching volleyball for Idaho Crush volleyball club, and enjoying the night life downtown with friends. I have a miniature schnauzer named Milly, she is like my child, and I have had her since I was 16. I just recently got married so I am at a very exciting time in my life. I am young in my career, and I am excited to learn and grow in the event manager position here at the Boise Metro Chamber.”

Idaho Power has been committed to advancing our community since it was founded in 1916, and for over 100 of those years, they've done so as supportive members of the Boise Metro Chamber.
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Idaho Power, Adam Richins weighed in on his perspective of the mutually beneficial partnership saying, "I think the Chamber realizes that we're very much stronger together and [for] anybody who's new to Idaho, it doesn't take long to realize that that's the community we are. What the Chamber does, I believe, is fosters those relationships and make sure we stay connected. The Chamber [offers an ability] to get together, re-engage with each other, and make sure that we're helping each other as we move forward in our business."
With almost 30,000 miles of distribution lines and 5,000 miles of transmission lines, Idaho Power has experienced many successes over the last century.
"We're fortunate that Idaho Power's rates are 20 to 30% below the national average," says Richins. "We had some great forward-looking ancestors that were able to get this great Hydro system that we have in place. Hydro is affordable, it's clean, it's reliable, and it is a big reason why the rates are what they are right now. We were the second utility in the nation to come forward with a voluntary clean energy goal in 2019. It's to be 100% clean by 2045. We believe in the next decade we'll get close to 80% and then we're going to need some technologies that are going to help us get that last 20% but I'm confident that we'll get there."
Bobbi-Jo Meuleman, the Chamber's President and CEO comments on how Idaho Power has empowered the community, "Everyone knows who Idaho Power is and it's not just because they're keeping our lights on it's because of the engagement that they provide to this community...[They've been] active partners to help us facilitate conversations to talk about issues that are important, and that affect all of us."
