What a day! Just Quit Now (Got Overbooked) fell in the semifinals. As their coach, I am looking at these kids — and all of their teammates who weren’t competing today — and thinking the future of IBOB looks very bright at North and at Boise High! I am so proud of how hard both teams fought, how brilliantly they answered, and most especially, how terrific their booksmanship and attitudes were throughout the day. Truly exceptional young people!!! 💙💙💙 A huge thank you to Mrs. Lovitt for co-coaching, and to all of the parents who came to support North, and to the volunteers and organizers that make Idaho Battle of the Books possible.
Congratulations to all of our amazing Vikings on an amazing first half of the IBOB Regional Tournament! The competition is incredibly steep this year. The Book Hunters did exceptionally and ended up in 12th place out of 30 teams. Just Quit Now (Got Overbooked) has moved on to the quarterfinals and is about to do battle against Tsunami from East. We love it when the therapy dogs come to visit!
This year, North’s Idaho Battle of the Books teams included four sets of siblings! Just imagine if the youngers had teamed up against the olders? Working from the outside in: the Nobles, the Marshalls, the Flanigans, and the Winklers. (Is this a preview for a special Sibling Battle next week? Maaaaaaybe……😁) Not only that, but two other current North IBOBers are “legacy” readers whose older siblings read for North in the recent past. At North Junior High, IBOB is a family tradition!
