Well, Mom is definitely proud of that one! She's my root in fashion. What an honor to be selected as one of "Woman of style" in the style issue! I do love some bold accessories. ๐ Thank you so much for the feature! Grab yourself a copy because it's a great fashion issue, and the other ladies on there are pretty fabulous!
Fun fact: my first semester in college was in fashion design. I love personal style and fashion and it was a natural path for me based on my mother's and grandmother's both having a love for dressmaking but also because I enrolled with a modeling agency in Haiti since I was 14 and did both runway and some fashion modeling.
They say time waits for no one. 2024 has been updated to prices wait for no one, it seems. Every indecision I've made from last year this this year has cost me from 25-100% price increase. Let that sink in and be a lesson to you next time you're making a decision ๐ญ๐ซ. That goes to you, too, design clients. The kind of increases I've seen in furnishing, materials, and labor have been insane! Definitely got us looking internally!
Moral of the story is, make a decision! Hire us. Lock it in for next year!

Swipe to see a note I wrote last year in anticipation of leaving my job!
A week ago today, one whole year later, I turned in my laptop and badge to my company, and it was the most fulfilling thing I have ever done! Fully letting go of a 15-year career in finance and embracing my 5th year as an interior design business owner. I am betting on myself, with no backups, no spousal support, just me, my hard work, and God who is for me. Trusting that God will provide, lead, and open the necessary doors on my behalf.
This still feels incredibly surreal to me, but Issa full-time entrepreneur!!!!
WE DID IT JOE! ๐
I'm not sure I should be quoting this at this point, but it feels appropriate for the moment ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ
What was the first thing you did as a full-time entrepreneur? I welcome any good thoughts, prayers, and advice here, and in the DM.
Giving myself my flowers! Congratulations to me!!!! ๐๐พ๐๐๐พ๐ฅ
Four years ago, I returned from India after living there for one year and two weeks. While living there, I took an interior design course with the hope of switching careers. Now that I was back, the fears started to creep in. The reality of actually doing this was scary. Everyone knows me as a numbers person; I love personal finance and have already devoted 10 years to my career! I have attempted and failed at starting other ambitious ventures before. I knew no one in the field, and I knew I didn't want to work for others. I'm an overthinker, so the more time went by, the more fears were taking over. November is my birthday month, and somehow, I always seem to get a bit more sassy, more brave, more risky, and more spendy ๐
around this month (don't ask me what I spent this month ๐) So with my fears in tow, I got on the state's website and registered my business, got my resales license (I'm a bit of a "research the crap out of everything and being by the book person") so I wanted legitimacy. Then I did what every other sane millennial would do; I put it on the GRAM! Oh, and you know by then, it had to happen ๐
HERE WE ARE...FOUR YEARS LATER! I've labored, feared, grown, feared, prayed, feared, fiercely shown up for myself, feared, got the job, feared, booked until spring, feared! Feared, fear, and will continue to be scared, but STILL I RISE!!!
My point is "Do it scared! But do it!" Show up for yourself. Heart pounding, hands sweating, just brace yourself with the armor of confidence, put your smile on, and let's go!!!! In the words of the famous tik tok voiceover, "How would they know?"
Find yourself a brave anthem and a few scriptures for the days when fears start creeping in. They will come in handy.
Anyway, cheers to four years! YEAR 5, WE ARE COMING FOR YOU!!!! 'SCARED'
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
Yesterday, I posted a rooftop install we did at our client's home and mentioned we also worked on their nursery. Swipe to see a peak of the real-life nursery. We have not yet professionally shot the nursery because we had to design it super quick as her due date was near. So we had to get in and out, lol
My client was really set on a woodland theme and absolutely LOVE the space for Their First Son! Now, this is located right in the city, so this nursery also had to function as a guest suite for when the grandparents come around, so the white shelving built-in you see is actually a Murphy bed.
Multipurpose spaces are essential when you live in major cities like , where space is a premium. But if you see the rooftop they had (run to my stories), you would have given up on bedroom space as well. Well, I WOULD! ๐คฉ

is nothing but a dream! To think that just 4 years ago, I sat in my hotel residence in India with just an idea of exploring interior design as a career path and now to have my work being selected to be featured. I can only thank God for grace and the strength to work hard and persevere when things get shaky.
Forever gratitude to for this amazing feature and your continued support! I appreciate you!
Thank you for the great pictures and styling assistance

Simple in looks, but this bathroom packs a punch in design details and intentionality.
Swipe to see a few highlights
Slide 1: Reeded glass to let all the light in without concern of being exposed. These glass took 4 months to Fabricate. Covid and all.
1 (a) mirrored the shape of the niche to the window to create a focal point as it's the first view when you enter the bathroom.
Slide 2: That cascading waterfall bench/shower glass with a touch of brass. Need I say more?
OK, more then: I wanted to have a bench structure around the tub (forward thinking of my clients aging in place) they do not agree BTW lol
Slide 3: I really wanted a simple structure overhead light to bring it all together and that light hit it on the nail!
Slide 4, 5, 6: Of course, before pictures!

Oldie but goodie!
If you are keeping up with our stories, we are working with a repeat client. This is another space we worked on for them. We saw their home last weekend and it looks the exact same as the day we left it. To me, that says the client is proud of and respect their sanctuary.
They said, "Everyone is in awe of the space, especially what you did with the fireplace. And even when we go on vacation, we are so excited to return home!"
I LOVE THIS FOR THEM AND ALL OF MY OTHER CLIENTS!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TESTIMONY OF LOVE!
For a sweet baby, coming to a beautiful home very soon! ๐ฅฐ
MY PRIDE AND JOY!!!! I spent the last year taking on the biggest personal real estate project so far. It was blood, sweat, and tears, not literally, but you get it! Now everytime I look at this home, I feel such pride and an overwhelming feeling of "Girl, you did this!!!!"
The goal was to take this three family home and turn it into four luxury condos.
So far, we have completed 2 of the condos. Complete gut reno. New electrical, hvac, new floors, walls, cabinetry appliances, down to the doors etc...
Exterior: New deck, roof, paint, etc...
Other ways we added value.
Unit 2:
Originally: 3br, 1 bath.
Current: 4 large br, 2 bath, with primary suite, washe/dryer and all utilities in unit and closet/storage space galore. New small deck.
Unit 3:
Originally: 2br, 1 bath.
Currently: 3 large br, 2 bath, with luxury primary suite, washe/dryer and all utilities in unit and closet/storage space galore
New private entrance, skylights added throughout.
Let me know if you have any questions about this process. I started sharing at the beginning, but LIFE! Lol
On to the next two. They will definitely not be as extensive because the core work is done. Wish me luck!
No rainy or cloudy days can stop the light from filtering in this home!
Reflecting on the effect that my work has on families and this feeling overwhelms me with joy and gratitude and reaffirms my sense of purpose.
As my client is going through a challenging period in life, they called me and said that they are so happy that I was able to help them renovate their home before this period. They mentioned it brings them a bit more peace and happiness that their home is beautiful and orderly, and that makes thing so much better for them. I am so thankful that they have chosen to share that with me. It truly blessed me.
Love and light to my beautiful client and family!
Had the pleasure of being one of my girls A*o Ebi Girl tonight!
A*o ebi (Yoruba), sometimes spelled as asoebi in Nigeria and ashobie in Sierra Leone and the Gambia, is a uniform dress or dressing code/style that is traditionally worn by Yorubas and acculturized by some other African cultures as an indicator of cooperation, camaraderie and solidarity during ceremonies, events and festive periods.
3rd wedding in two weeks.
When the sun is showing out in your clients bathroom like you intended for it to when you added two skylights in there! Now if we could only add a bench to create a reading nook and never leave. ๐๐คฃ
The vacation rental summit was such a good precursor to . We spent two days learning about the ins and out of short-term rental design and working with investors, and I'm excited to start making waves in that direction. I made my career switch to interiors specifically to design vacation homes, second homes, airbnb, and boutique hotels. Thank you to all who gracefully shared and to and the whole VRD team for making this happen!
