The bill also reshaped the country by mandating accessibility in public spaces for the first time, making it easier for many of the 61 million Americans living with disabilities to participate more fully in society.
It’s important to center disabled experiences, celebrate disability culture, and fight to end disability stigma and discrimination. Read about this month in our blog post, freshly updated with relevant organizations and helpful resources centered on disability and accessibility:

One year ago, the Berkshire/Columbia Counties Pay Equity Project released its findings on pay equity for cultural workers. Their research found that many entry- and mid-level arts and culture workers in the region struggle to put gas in their cars, find decent housing, access basic healthcare, feed their families, and as a result, maintain their financial, physical, and emotional wellbeing, which has a destabilizing effect on institutions, diminishes artistic expression, and threatens the creative economy for which this region is internationally known.
The Pay Equity Project is conducting two brief follow-up surveys in anticipation of their upcoming Pay Equity Summit. If you are an entry-or mid-level arts and culture worker, or an arts and culture employer, please participate in the surveys below. The deadline is July 16, and your insight is needed!

📢 A new report by Candid shows significant disparities in nonprofit leadership diversity. While the overall nonprofit workforce is fairly diverse, top leadership roles remain predominantly white. The survey of nearly 60,000 public charities highlights that 70% of CEOs are white, with Black and Hispanic leaders comprising only 15% and 6%, respectively. This calls for urgent actions towards equitable opportunities and inclusive leadership.

The Boston Foundation's initiatives like the Leadership Longevity Fellowship and Workforce Well-being Initiative show promising results by supporting mental health and professional growth. Let's champion increased funding for nonprofit staff well-being to ensure stronger communities and continued impactful work.
Read more here from Carlos Muñoz-Cadilla and Inside Philanthropy:
The Ripple Effects of Investing in the Nonprofit Sector Workforce’s Well-being | Inside Philanthropy What funders do and don’t do is crucial in addressing the nonprofit worker burnout crisis. In this guest piece, Carlos Muñoz-Cadilla shares several ways the Boston Foundation is supporting wellness for nonprofit staff.
Despite the nonprofit sector being predominantly staffed by women, men still hold the majority of leadership positions. This phenomenon, known as the "glass escalator," highlights systemic issues where men in women-dominated industries often ascend to top roles more quickly.
Research from Candid reveals that while 69% of nonprofit workers are women, their representation diminishes significantly in higher leadership roles. Addressing this imbalance is crucial for achieving true gender equity in leadership within the nonprofit sector. Check out the full analysis on Harvard Business Review: https://buff.ly/3UjVjCr
