Every single state Attorney General has signed a letter demanding that Congress end the practice of forcing sexual harassment cases into mandatory arbitration. This would break the "culture of silence" that keeps those subjected to harassment–and their harassers–from their day in court.

We've found ourselves in a new world, one that The Hunting Ground filmmaker Amy Ziering describes to The New Yorker as "surreal"-- where, at long last, perpetrators of r**e, abuse and harassment are being called out by a growing chorus of voices and (FINALLY) facing consequences for their actions. Time will tell what this means for Hollywood, but in Anita Hill's words, "[Now] people know the truth of what happens to women."

Imagine how differently investigations and court cases would go if all investigators understood this:

Our brains respond to being assaulted by someone we know in the same way they would to being shot at. Investigators who understand this know that some people may fight, some freeze up, some remember nothing and some remember details only in flashes.

Those accused of abuse or harassment have a choice in how they respond to accusations, and that response indicates who they are. Once you start to recognize the pattern of the DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender) defense, you can call it out when you see it and refuse to accept it.
