Music at Trinity Church, Boston
News and Notes from Music Program at Trinity Church, Boston.
Trinity Church, Copley Square in Boston seeks to fill a TENOR staff singer vacancy to help lead its large, vibrant, intergenerational choral program for the ’24-’25 season. Trinity is blessed with a rich musical tradition that is lived out week by week, spearheaded by multiple choirs. The choirs sing a substantial amount of repertoire from a broad range of sacred choral literature. The choirs are supported by some of the finest professional singers in Boston.
The candidate is responsible for singing at rehearsals, services, and concerts throughout the year with many solo opportunities. Excellent sightreading and strong interpersonal skills are essential. The ability and willingness to lead warm-ups, sectional rehearsals, and impart vocal wisdom during rehearsals to our many talented volunteer singers are strongly preferred. Previous experience working in church choir settings is a preferred though not required.
At the heart of the Trinity Choirs’ work is a deep commitment to church’s worship life. In addition to their regular focus in the parish, the choirs have made several tours abroad. A tour is planned for 2025 to serve as choir in residence at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London and Canterbury Cathedral in England. A new recording on the Acis Label (www.acisproductions.com) is expected to be released this fall. More information is available www.trinitychurchboston.org/worship/music/choirs.
Schedule: Wednesday Rehearsal (6:45-8:45 pm, ATB only), Thursday Rehearsal (6:45-8:45 pm), Sunday Rehearsal/Service (8:30am-11:00am), and Sunday evening Rehearsal/Service (4:00pm-6:00pm, bi-weekly). Frequent additional opportunities exist for calls for weddings, funerals, concerts, and tours. Hourly rates and other compensation are available by email and listed in the Boston Choral Freelancers page.
To apply, please send a choral resume and expression of interest. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate a significant choral background. Recordings of solo repertoire are also appreciated. Materials may be sent to Colin Lynch, Director of Music at [email protected].
