📖 After completing my training at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions, I ran a s*xual and reproductive health program at a large medical institution for over a decade. After going through treatment for breast cancer, I focused my learning on the science of s*xual health—especially s*xual pain, pelvic pain, and low libido/hypoactive s*xual desire disorder. I completed additional training through the Herbert Benson Mind Body Institute to integrate the art of mindfulness into my practice. ⚕️

📢📢 Hot off the press from this June 10th, 2024 Review Article:

"Boric Acid for the Treatment of Vaginitis: New Possibilities Using an Old Anti-Infective Agent: A Systematic Review"

✅ An average cure rate of 76% was found for vulvova**nal candidiasis Boric Acid (BA) treatment.

✅ Maintenance BA was equal to maintenance oral itraconazole therapy in vulvova**nal candidiasis and bacterial vaginosis in a retrospective study.

✅ Prolonged BA monotherapy cured three of six recurrent Trichomonas

infections.

✅ Based on our findings and the rising antimicrobial therapy resistance, we suggest:

-intrava**nal BA 600 mg/day for 2 weeks for (recurrent) vulvova**nal candidiasis

-600 mg/day for 2-3 weeks for recurrent bacterial vaginosis.

✅ Rare resistant Trichomonas infections can be treated with BA 600 mg × 2/day for months and combined with oral antimicrobials.

✅ We suggest a maintenance regimen of BA 600 mg × 2/week for recurrent vulvova**nal candidiasis.

✅ In case of resistant bacterial vaginosis, we suggest BA 600 mg × 2-3/week.

Have you had luck with boric acid for treating vaginitis?

🌟 As a patient dealing with Chronic Pelvic Pain (CPP) and or Chronic Sexual Pain, also known as Dyspareunia, here's the lowdown: injecting a type of botulinum toxin (BoNT-A) into tight pelvic floor muscles could help these muscles relax. When we talk about tight muscles, we mean specific ones like the obturator internus, the levator ani (which includes the pubococcygeus, iliococcygeus, and puborectalis muscles), and the coccygeus. 🤔

Now, the big news is that more and more evidence suggests that using BoNT-A could be a really promising treatment option for women with CPP. It's like a new superhero in the world of pelvic pain treatments! 🦸‍♀️💪

Your health journey is unique, and finding the right treatment is all about working together as a team! 🌺 I offer this treatment in the Boston, Massachusetts, area. If you'd like to learn more & find out if Botox for the pelvic floor is right for you, please schedule a complimentary consultation on my website - www.pelvichealthsupport.com

What are Botox injections & how do they work?

Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes specific muscles. The use of Botox in the va**na is a relatively new procedure but has been clinically proven to be safe and effective. The procedure remains officially ‘off-label,’ meaning it is not FDA-approved. However, the use of Botox for pelvic floor muscle tightness is supported by scientific evidence and clinical results.

Botox is a highly effective treatment for tight pelvic muscles that are constantly in spasm & provides safe relief to many women.

“I would HIGHLY recommend Kathy Kates. She was extremely helpful in treating my symptoms. She not only provided the hands-on treatment but she was very helpful in reviewing the exercises that I needed. I have been a personal fitness trainer for over 28 years. I have worked closely with a lot of physical therapists to help my clients recover from injury. Kathy is one of the very best physical therapists I have worked with. She is caring, kind, and most of all, extremely knowledgeable and capable! I had been dealing with some issues for a year and within 4 sessions, my symptoms were drastically better!!! Did you know that just like you can have knots (aka trigger points), tension, and muscle spasms in your neck, you can also have trigger points, tension, and spasms in your pelvic floor muscles?!

They may be responsible for your pelvic pain, painful s*x (dyspareunia), urinary frequency, urinary urgency, interstitial cystitis, constipation, vaginismus, vulvodynia, or other pelvic floor dysfunction.

We often use pelvic floor injections (Botox) as an adjunct to help decrease the tension in the pelvic floor that is contributing to your symptoms. Your nurse practitioner will decide which is the right option for you.

Want to learn more & see if pelvic floor injections could help you? Schedule a telehealth appointment today - https://www.pelvichealthsupport.com/
