While change is necessary, individuals, communities, and the earth itself must be able to adapt to and integrate catalytic events in order to support sustainable and natural evolution
Through the lens of Rites of Passage, integration or the “Incorporation” after a transformative event is vital to healthy human development. However, within our current culture it is often the least supported aspect of change.
Do you know how to bring major life changes home, to your everyday living?
Have transformations in your life been supported by your community?
In our modern culture, the field of Incorporation is complex, and in order to tend to this vital phase we must lean into the inquiries:
What practices support the integration of our lived experiences into our bodies?
How can we incorporate large and small changes into our habitual ways of being?
What is the role of “community” in supporting our full cycles of transformation?
Join us in-person, Sept 7-11, to explore best practices for Incorporating change into our lives.

What if community isn't a noun but a verb - an action or something we do?
A way of showing up that links us in a web of others.
An intention to "do community" is key and feeds the body, heart, mind and soul.
It feels good because we as humans are wired for this belonging. And yes, these wires get crossed and not belonging does not feel good. We teach youth this is normal! It's part of the learning process to "trust" the doing and being of community!
Community isn't consumptive, it's reciprocal and evolutionary to build this trust. We do this by teaching the daily practice of community. It rewires and reframes belonging. We see it on our Rite of Passage trips again and again. Community happens through doing community!
Rites of Passage Journeys as an organization does daily community practice. It's at the heart of what we do. And Journeys isn't just staff, guides, the board, parents or youth. It exists only because of the myriad of people that show up through the spirit of community.
Our daily community practice today is to provide an opportunity is to participate in the Greater Seattle Community GIVE BIG campaign. Not just drawing attention to our fundraising needs - that's for next week (a truth and also for a laugh) - but acknowledging that lots of people in the world are doing lots of good things to make the world a better place.
Here is our GIVE BIG LINK. Donating today can be your community daily hygiene. When you do this, you are a part of a larger field of people "doing community" in service to a better world.

Moving Beyond Polarization — Rite of Passage Journeys A tendency towards polarization – division between sharply contrasting ideological perspectives – is very alive in today’s world . When we reduce each other to ideological labels – leftist, right-wing, communist, racist - we fail to see each other as humans. Whatever “side” we...
