Things are busy at Get Outta Hair! Well, busier than normal, which was always busy. There’s not enough of me to go around for the demand I’m receiving.
But, help is on the way!! Right now, I’ve got a woman at California Electrology Academy learning from the same amazing teachers I had in 2020. If there were an Ivy League of electrolysis schools, this is it. And the machine I use? It’s so in demand that the one she has on order is on a 9 month wait! So we’ll have to share my treatment room/machine until hers is ready.
I’ll start moving her into the schedule slowly throughout the summer, and hopefully within a few months, Get Outta Hair can serve patients from 8am-8pm.
In the meantime, I’m sorry to say I’m putting a halt to working in new patients.

It’s happened again! I forgot to post the text about a different cancellation last week.
This woman has only had two 1-hr appts with me thus far! One on March 11, the next on April 3.
She’ll come for a 30min appointment next week to instead.

Good news, I am finally accepting new patients again. Which means anyone can book an appointment, even if not a pre-existing client.

In recent months, I have had about 10 people graduate from electrolysis to a successful bottom surgery!

Plus a lot of previously very hairy individuals hardly have to come at all anymore, so I’m ready for a new crop of hairy people who are ready to finally be DONE with those annoying hairs!

In the interest of full disclosure and in alignment with my own moral code, I am sharing this FDA warning about numbing creams that my patients, along with many others out there getting electrolysis, tattoos, microneedling or other procedures, are using.

The main two products I have been recommending are on this list: NumbSkin and Painless Tattoo.

Please heed the warnings and proceed at your own risk. I’ve used numbing cream myself many times over the years without any negative response.
It sounds like problems emerge when too much numbing cream is applied in large areas and are left on the skin for prolonged periods of time. It also advises against using plastic wrap over the numbing cream, which is something I used to do myself and have also been recommending to patients since day one in my business.

If you choose to use numbing cream for my electrolysis sessions, please familiarize yourself with the risks and limit the amount of time it is on your skin. Follow the directions on how to apply and use discretion. For me personally, if I still had any hair left in sensitive areas, I would likely choose to use it in small doses, even knowing about the warnings, because I’m of a wimp when it comes to pain.

Remember that there are other ways of managing pain besides numbing cream, although in my opinion, that is the most effective way, short of localized injections from dentists for some when removing upper lip hair.

For most people, the pain is so minimal that it’s a fair trade in exchange for permanently removing unwanted hairs.
‘Short term pain for long term gain’ is what I like to say.

Moving forward with knowing this information, I will be advising all my patients of the possible risks if they choose to continue using numbing cream prior to electrolysis treatments.
(One of my patients sent me the link a few days ago and I only just read the article less than an hour ago. I will be updating this post as needed if any new information is reported.)

Don’t forget to show up to your Electrolysis appointments super hydrated. If you DON’T, it’ll be like prying out thick weeds in the heat of the summer.

Turn on the sprinklers a day or 2 in advance. Especially the night before and morning of.

If you arrive needing to p*e, good job! It means the hairs will come out easier at lower settings which also means less pain.

P.S. Why didn’t they add a period to the last sentence?
Just like I can’t not see grammar mistakes, I also can’t not see even the most wispy thin hairs on your face. Every last one must go!

Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses!

At the end of life no one says “I’m so glad I kept going and going” or “I’m so glad I worked so much that I never spent afternoons in the sun imagining and dreaming.” We’re conditioned to go and go because quite honestly— it’s addictive. And it helps us escape ourselves. The joy is in learning how to be instead of constantly doing

This is a REAL concern people share with me all the time when we start electrolysis. What if those chin hairs just didn’t exist and it wasn’t a worry at all??

I used to have a ton of facial hair and unfortunately, I have been in a coma. Luckily, all those chin hairs were already gone, so I didn’t have to worry about that.

Electrolysis isn’t super cheap or easy. But what it is - is
WORTH IT!

Rule #1: Do NOT pluck the hairs you hate. Shave them until you can find a professional electrologist to remove them PERMANENTLY!
Remember, every time you pluck, your body recognizes it as a ‘wound’. In response, the body sends new blood supply to the area in an attempt to ‘heal’ the wound. This new blood supply helps those hairs to grow back thicker and stronger - and grow friends! So, if you WANT a hairy chin, just keep plucking those hairs and that’s exactly what you’ll get. (Truth).
