𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Built in 1927, Ridgeley School is one of 27 schools in Prince George’s County to receive assistance from the Rosenwald Fund. The segregated school served African American children living near Central Avenue until the 1950s. Restored and reopened as a museum in 2011, it is one of the best examples of a Rosenwald School in the County.

Adam Francis Plummer is the author of a remarkable diary, begun on his wedding day, May 31, 1841 to Emily Saunders of Three Sisters Plantation, Even more detailed is the 1927 spiritual memoir penned by Emily’s youngest daughter Nellie Arnold Plummer, Out of the Depths or the Triumph of the Cross. As Nellie relates stories about her family, Out of the Depths allows us to know Emily, her husband Adam, and their children. His diary is a featured exhibit of the Smithsonian Institution's Anacostia Community Museum

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? "Three Sisters" plantation where Emily Saunders worked, and to which Adam Francis Plummer walked from Riversdale to spend time with his wife and children. The "Three Sisters" plantation was a very large plantation, patented by Thomas Hilleary in 1683 and owned for many generations by members of the Hilleary family. The plantation acreage is located in the general Lanham area, actually closer to current-day Springdale and Glenarden.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? Dorsey Chapel is a small meeting-house-style church which served as the spiritual and social center of the rural African-American community of Brookland at the turn of the 20th century. Construction of the chapel was completed in 1900; it was named after its first minister, the Reverend A.B. Dorsey. A small, active congregation occupied the chapel from 1900 to 1971. In 1971, the congregation merged with the congregation from Perkins Chapel to form Glenn Dale United Methodist Church, and Dorsey Chapel was no longer used. Initially scheduled for demolition in 1980, the Friends of Dorsey Chapel organized efforts to preserve and restore the church.
