Today Rick’s Dreams came True!

This one recently opened in Woodmore Town Center in Bowie.

The Owner, Ms. Sonja, and her daughter, dreamed of opening a bakery.

So when Ms. Sonja retired, they made it happen.

My new clients are slightly bitter because their last agent didn’t live up to their expectations.

So I decided to visit Ms. Sonja’s new bakery to get them something sweet to lighten the mood when I explain how my Concierge Ultimate Home Selling Plan will get their house SOLD fast and for top dollar.

Many of my seller clients ask me how I went from being a TV News Anchor to being a REALTOR®.

Well, I decided to be a news anchor when I was 7 years old.

It was the night before Thanksgiving.

I remember the smell of sweet potato pie baking as I sat on the living room floor watching the Charlie Brown Special.

A news reporter interrupted to announce that Chicago's first Black mayor had a heart attack & died in his office.

I was fascinated by the coverage. I knew I wanted to be a news anchor.

Over 17 years, I was continuously promoted to new positions.

It allowed me to travel the country & the world, learning & meeting new people.

But I had another childhood dream. I wanted to sell houses.

When my parents purchased our first home, I witnessed how homeownership improved our lives.

So about 11 years ago, after working on my Master's Degree, it was time to get my real estate license.

I wanted to flip houses.

I found my first rehab project while working on a news story.

The homeowners had unknowingly rented a room to a suspected murderer who had a standoff with the swat team.

The house was destroyed in the standoff & the family didn't have insurance or the money to fix it.

I bought the house, leaving them with enough money to start again.

I realized I was just as passionate about real estate as I was about News.

I could help people through TV News & through real estate.

Both careers allowed me to have a positive impact.

I loved the news industry, but after a few years, I began to feel like something was missing.

When my contract ended in 2017, I packed up & moved to Maryland/D.C.

My time here was meant to be a short break from the news industry, a peaceful retreat to recenter my mind & life.

When I took a step back from the news business, I began to change.

The weight of the negative news cycle had lifted. I read uplifting books and watched things that made me laugh.

I made a conscious decision to practice gratitude, & each day my list of things to be grateful for kept growing.

I felt free.

Giving up my dream career gave me more than I could have ever imagined.

I began to connect with myself, my family, & friends on a deeper level.

After interviewing for several TV jobs, I got job offers in cities I didn't want to live in.

I was at a fork in the road.

Ultimately, I decided to build my life in the DMV.

Continuing to serve, educate, & inform others through real estate.

I moved here alone. No friends. No family.

I was stepping out on faith, believing that anything is possible with hard work & a positive outlook.
