My beautiful early birthday bouquet 💐 from Saturday is still going strong and inspired me to do a little oil pastel painting this afternoon. My birthday isn't until May 30th but I like to celebrate all month!

I'm going to a party and decided to use some of my Chinese brush watercolor on rice paper as gift wrap!
I tried a little plein air painting from my window while having my morning coffee. ☕️ This was created in on my iPad using my Apple Pencil and the oil painting brushes. It didn’t take long but I’m glad I took the time to do it. I guess I was inspired after watching a movie on Hoopla about Monet’s water lilies. There’s an upcoming plein air event on my calendar that will be by the water - not with lilies but boats. I guess I should be practicing painting boats! Oh well. It’s going to be fun to see what I come up with on that jaunt!
Painting with soft pastels at the beach today
Not an eclipse. Just a shell. I'm getting ready to paint at the beach with my friends this week with this little oil painting. And I have a 🍕 in the oven for lunch! Took a break from my usual Monday doings. Did yoga after I got up, went for a nice morning walk, and picked surnam 🍒 cherries from our tree for a snack. Happy eclipse day! What are you doing?
I'm trying to spend more time outside, walking and tending my garden, and then I come up to my studio and instead of scrolling through my photos to find something to paint, I go back to an old oil painting and add another thicker layer while thinking about all I felt when I was outside.
“Nature Has Many Layers”
When we look at nature, we often just skim the surface or get so bogged down in the details that we fail to lose ourselves in its manifold embrace and get enveloped in its healing powers. Just finished this

Have you ever forced a bulb indoors? 🪻 Hyacinths can be forced in a special vase like this. It’s a fun thing to do in preparation for spring planting!

Back in my studio from my plein air adventure at Emerson Point with Parrish Arts Council and looking at my little painting. I made a couple tweaks; guess I should sign it. (Last time I painted outdoors, I brought my painting home only to drop it before it dried! Being more carefulful this time 😝)
Oil on canvas board, impasto - 8” x 8”
Plein air painting with Parrish Arts Council at Emerson Point this morning, the weather was cool and overcast with some wind. Managed to do a little oil painting and take a walk around the preserve. Can't wait to come back here later this month for another paint out. It's great taking my art outdoors with fellow PAC members.

What a great find at our local Publix today! A forced hyacinth bulb (this one will be white) that's already budded in a glass vase with gorgeous, healthy roots! Just $3.99! I remarked to the Garden section manager Mary what a great value it was. The vase alone costs that much or more. And she said by tomorrow they'll all be gone. Glad I got mine! I used to have one of these vases but not sure what I did with it (did it break?).
The tomatoes are from my garden.
As soon as this blossoms, I'll have something wonderful to paint!
