My new presentation:
The Age of Ambiguity!😟
•Too much information
•Not enough information
•Conflicting information
Let's talk about paying attention to how much information we listen to.
Similar to other senses like too much light, too much sound, and the temperature:
We need to regulate our intake of all this ambiguous information.
What has happened over the past 24 months has produced overwhelming confusion.
We have seen some extreme emotional reactions by certain individuals, groups and organizations due to the ambiguous information being presented.
Family's have been polarized by their confusion. People's reactions have become very emotional resulting in anger and frustration coming out everywhere.
Those in leadership positions have been challenged in their ability to tolerate the ambiguity of all information being presented.
Lets talk about the impact of all this ambiguous information coming at us everyday!
"Be careful where you point your mind" -DCN
So, my first post COVID-19 was to the members of the Shiller Shoreline Instute for Lifelong Learning to be at the Guilford Library.
The topic:
"What Just Happened?"
This was a discussion of how we are living in the
"Age of Ambiguity".
I decided to talk about:
How well do we tolerate the ambiguity of information flowing at us during these times of pervasive
uncertainty?
How well do we formulate our opinions or make decisions as we receive such ambitious information ?
Today's situations are characterized by their complexity, novelty, and insolubility. The lack of sufficient information emerges in three contexts:
a) Novelty: Lack of sufficient information about completely new situations.
b) Insolubility: To much contradictory information is confusing.
c) Complexity: A great number of variables to be taken into account.
Contact me if you or your group/organization would like to discuss this topic.
