Homes for the Brave is a nonprofit dedicated to providing housing and services to homeless Veterans.
In addition to housing, we offer case management, life skills, vocational services, computer classes, and mental health services. In 2002, ABRI opened Homes for the Brave (HFTB), a 42 bed transitional living facility. The program is available to male Veterans and non-veterans who are homeless with a special focus on those who struggle with mental illness and/or substance abuse problems. Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes provides the same services for up to 14 homeless women, primarily Veterans.

We also want to express our deep gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, donors, spectators, and the entire team at Sacred Heart University, for making our 10th Annual Step Up For The Brave a truly spectacular event!

Bestowed upon distinguished service men and women of all branches of the US military who have been wounded or killed in the line of duty, the Purple Heart is the nation’s oldest military honor and is one of the first medals that all ranks could earn. There are even some instances of our brave animal companions receiving the award, including CT’s very own Sgt. Stubby, a dog who was wounded by a gr***de and in a gas attack during the First World War. Today we celebrate the courage and sacrifice of all of those who have earned a Purple Heart, we thank you forever and always.
