REMINDER - Collect your FREE RRU logo shirt at the mandatory meetings on:
April 17 @ 75 Stutson St. Roch (meeting starts at 6:30pm sharp) OR
April 20 @ Penfield HS (meeting starts at 8:30am sharp.)

CHANGE in location for Wednesday, April 17 meeting ONLY - NEW location (same time 6:30-8:00pm) will be Stutson Street Event Center, 75 Stutson Street, Rochester, NY. NO changes to the April 20th meeting location or time. Please spread the word.

The RRU would like to congratulate our very own Tom Langelotti, who was named as the new SRA for WNYSRA! We will certainly miss Tom’s leadership in his VP3 role, but we know his passion for our sport and our profession will now serve all of WNY. We also want to thank outgoing SRA Michael Tata for his years of dedicated service. CONGRATULATIONS TOM!!

Physical “Risk Management “ lamented cards are no longer being issued to referees (or anybody for that matter.) This, and many more topics will be discussed at the mandatory Business/ League Soecific meetings being held on April 17 & April 20.

3 Required "Parts" + 1 meeting to complete your 2024 Registration:

1(adults) -Complete Risk Management (SafeSport & Intro to Safety in the LC & Background Check in GotSport)
1(minors) -Complete RM for minors (Intro to Safety in the LC & Parental Attestation in GotSport)

2 - Complete all courses in OMS and/or in-person (in-person or online option)

3 - Pay your RRU dues...or better yet, recruit a new referee and BOTH of your dues are waived this year!!

Then attend an in-person League Specific Meeting on April 17 or April 20.

a) Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments - LC
b) SafeSport (adults only) - LC
c) Complete recertification either online (this option requires you to complete 5 courses and 1 test) or in-person (this option requires you to take 1 test and attend a clinic.) - OMS

2 - Complete Risk Management - Completed in GotSport
* Adults complete a Background Check
* Minors (and parent or legal guardian) complete a NYSWYSA Minor (Under 18) Staff/Referee/Coach Parental Attestation.

3 - Pay your local Rochester Referee Unit Dues - Completed in OMS

You may or may not have received an email from GotSport regarding your Risk Management. Please IGNORE that email as the system is not yet fully operational. Again, please IGNORE that email. We expect the system to go live sometime between Christmas and New Year and when it does, an email will be sent with instructions and will also be posted here as well.

Fill | Learning Center Profile Change If you need your profile details changed on your Learning Center profile, please complete the form below. These requests are processed once a week. Please note we will not process any incomplete or partial requests; please be sure to fill out the entire form.

Our new RM website will be GotSport and it needs to be able to link to all other accounts. It will "link" to each account by the email address you use and your name. As such, all officials need to verify every account you use to register (LC; OMS and SE) are ALL using the same AND unique email address that only belongs to the registering referee. Please also ensure every account has your full (first and last) legal name. If your accounts are using different email addresses, please have all other accounts match the one you used in the LC. If you do not do this you will NOT be able to complete your registration. This is especially important if you are (or ever were in your lifetime) a coach, manager or player for a Club AND/OR you and your child are (or ever were no matter how long ago) referees.

Important dates: MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

* In-person Recertification classes (pick 1): 12/27/2023, 1/24/2024, 2/28/2024, 3/13/2024. (all classes are 6pm-9 pm) - Required for Regional Referees and Referees who want to officiate adult leagues.

* NEW referee classes in 2024 (pick 1): 1/13, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24, 3/23, 4/6, & & 4/13. New referee Dues are WAIVED for the 1st year officials!!!!

* Recertifying Referees - Sign a new Referee up and your RRU dues are WAIVED (contact RocRefUnitVP3@gmail for details.)

* League Specific/Business Meetings: Wednesday, 4/17 @ 6:30pm and Saturday, 4/20 @ 8:30am - IN PERSON ONLY - ALL REFEREES MUST ATTEND 1 OF THESE MEETINGS

* Business Meeting #2: Saturday, 6/8 @ 8:30am (ZOOM)

RRU Business Meeting is Monday, August 7 @ Penfield HS Commons Room, from 7pm-8:30pm (includes Board Elections.) This is the last meeting of the year and you must attend 2 out of the 3 meetings we offered this year to remain in good standing. This is an in-person meeting ONLY.

RRU Scholarship Fund
The Rochester Referee Unit Scholarship Fund was started in 2007 to honor two members who are no longer with us. Joseph Martuscello worked as a referee in the Rochester area for five years and worked faithfully with many new referees. Lois Brondon was a passionate member of the Rochester district for ten years.

The 2023 Scholarship Application Period Is Now Open.
This year the scholarship will be awarded to one person in the amount of $1,000! The application can be found on the RRU website.
