My collaboration for the next exhibition at HollerHouse. FLAME ELEMENTAL First Friday, February 2nd, from 6-9 pm.

🔥 FLAMES have already been in my work for a while (as in many other's), but the first time I remember using them was in such a different context. I used to feel emotionally homeless, like I had been deprived from that feeling a lot of people could call rooting or belonging, that comes from having a strong support circle or a place all your memories (good memories) are linked to. My so called "home" was not just in flames, it was pure ashes. It disappeared before I got to have it.

In this new piece they have a different meaning. Years of therapy (which is very popular nowadays and sometimes taken lightly), helped me see the gravity of my past experiences and understand why people go quiet and feel awkward when some topics come up and I share my flashbacks. As I laugh trying to make something extremely traumatic sound funny, because it's the only memories I have, but I want to participate and feel included.

I'm dedicating this piece to the process of recovering from and creating a new life. Because we all deserve a second chance. You're NOT alone 🌹🔥❤️‍🔥

El proceso de abocetado es donde empieza todo y la parte más difícil. Requiere que pongas a trabajar al 200% todos tus sentidos. Después de tantos años dedicándome a esto, me sigue pareciendo una magia extraña.

Reclaiming Our Lost Focus 📵

In a world filled with screens vying for our attention, we're diving deep into the struggle to recapture our focus. Presenting my latest creation for , accompanying an insightful article by Pilar Jericó, exploring the challenge of staying engaged in a screen-dominated era.

I find that my greatest challenge lies in maintaining focus when trying to read a book, which makes me really sad as reading was one of my favourite activities years ago.

I’m finally back on IG after a little but very needed break from social media to be able to focus on projects.

Last June the Data & Society Institute (NY) asked me to illustrate their primer on Wellness Capitalism.

Are these health programs really about our well-being, or are there other motivations at play? Workers are confronted with a deluge of information and choices, often feeling lost in the maze of options. Employers, driven by financial incentives, paint a rosy picture, but do their actions truly prioritize the wellbeing of their workforce? 💸

Have you ever read a book that described exactly something you have always had trouble putting into words? Which one was it for you?

It amazes me how powerful it is to name things, clarifying concepts and feelings through words. A book can be just a mere bunch of paper or exactly the message you need in that moment of your life.

Madrid fue la primera ciudad a la que fui a buscarme con apenas 18 años.
Me hace mucha ilusión estar en sus calles con la campaña “Premios Talento y Tecnología 2023” que convoca el Ayuntamiento de Madrid , con los que premian las mejores tesis doctorales en el ámbito del desarrollo tecnológico.

“Laura Wächter se ha inspirado en “El pensador” de Rodin donde el acto de pararse a pensar, inicio de todas las grandes ideas, acapara toda la escena y contrasta con una ciudad que bulle en su habitual ajetreo.”

My body contains me, it walks me around the world and allows me to sense. I get constant messages from the outside telling me it doesn’t look how it should and that I could do this or that to make it look better. It is hard not feel inappropriate, but I promise you, body of mine, that I will never slaughter you to fit into an ideal. That I won’t have extreme high expectations of you and I will never let filters blur my mind. That I will take care of you with respect from now on, like I would take care of a stray cat nobody wants. I will feed you when you’re hungry and I’ll give you treats every other day. Maybe everyday. Because you took me to where I am now.

Sigo los avances de la ley del sólo sí es sí con el corazón en un puño. Este 8m, después de tantas polémicas y críticas al y a , quiero darles las gracias por luchar por poner la atención en el consentimiento y no en la violencia y la intimidación. Porque para mí y probablemente para otras muchas víctimas que tampoco denunciaron, que este debate se haya abierto y avancemos en esa dirección, es en sí parte de nuestra reparación.

También es parte del cambio social necesario para que la gente que ve en el consentimiento una línea borrosa, la vea más clara. Si hay dudas, claramente no es un sí. Y quien calla no otorga.

Mucha fuerza a todas para seguir luchando ✊❤️‍🔥
