While today is the last day of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we appreciate our hard-working truck drivers year-round! Today's spotlight shines on our Wells, Maine Distribution Center driver, Douglas Snowden. Douglas started his career with Shaw's & C.W.P Trucking in November 1996 and is about to celebrate 28 years with us! Throughout his career, Douglas has been a valuable part of the team, as he has trained hundreds of our drivers. Additionally, Douglas served as a Driver- Dispatcher, and in that role he trained several dispatchers, many of whom have seen their careers thrive with us. Douglas has played a key role in keeping drivers safe on the road, and is always willing to jump in and help, whether it’s as simple as giving directions to a driver, or riding along with drivers & trainees. Please join us in thanking Douglas and all of our drivers, for the crucial role they play in bringing everyone together around the joys of food! 🚚👏

In honor of Truck Driver Appreciation Week, our trucks and drivers are making special deliveries to the The Greater Boston Food Bank, Good Shepherd Food Bank. New Hampshire Food Bank, Vermont Foodbank & Rhode Island Community Food Bank (pictured)! Upon these deliveries, our drivers are presenting these Food Banks each with a $2,500 donation, in addition to 10 pallets of food, to assist these organizations in their fight against hunger in our communities.

This week is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and today we're spotlighting driver Ed Dumond! Ed began his driving career at Shaw’s and C.W.P. trucking in May 1991 and has recently celebrated 33 years with us! During that time Ed has driven over 2.5 million safe miles and has earned multiple safe driving awards along the way! Ed’s years of dedicated service and safety make him a perfect role model for the rest of the team. We appreciate and respect Ed for all that he does! 🚚 👏

This week is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and we're shining the spotlight on our hard-working drivers, like Norman Cantara! Norman started his career with Shaw's C.W.P. in July 2013 and recently celebrated 11 years with us! Norman has been a valuable member of the driving team, especially for his commitment to safety, having served as a member of the Wells Distribution Center safety committee, contributing greatly to helping keep drivers safe on the road. Please join us in thanking Norman and all of our truck drivers for the role they play in bringing everyone together around the joys of food! 🚚👏

Truck Driver Appreciation week rolls on! Our truck drivers play a key role in bringing everyone together around the joys of food. Today we spotlight CDL driver Osnel “Ozzy” Estilus! Ozzy became a full time driver for Shaw’s C.W.P. Trucking in 2018. Prior to that he was a temporary driver assigned to Shaw’s. As a temporary driver, Ozzy was recognized for his commitment to being a reliable and safe driver, and as a result he was asked to transition to full-time. This would prove to be a wise choice, as Ozzy continues to be one of our team’s most reliable and safest drivers, almost six years later – having been recognized with numerous safe driving awards! His dedication, willingness to step up when called upon and his driving record sets him apart, as Ozzy sets the bar high as a role model for other drivers. 🚚 👏

This week, we'll be spotlighting some of our hard-working drivers, like Mark Dougherty! Mark has been driving for Shaw's since July of 1993, more than 31 years. In 2008 Mark logged one million miles accident and violation free at Shaw’s, a milestone not easily achieved and well-earned. Mark's current role is Yard Jockey at our Methuen Distribution Center. This is a crucial position requiring special training, equipment and skills to keep the operation running smoothly and safely. Mark's dedication to the team and history of safe driving are what sets him apart. We appreciate and respect Mark for all that he does! 🚚 👏

Today, our team volunteered their time at End Hunger NE, to assist the organization in their fight against hunger, in our communities. Our team spent their time assembling, weighing and boxing up thousands of meals, that immediately were shipped to hunger relief organizations in our communities. In addition we were proud to make a $2,500.00 donation to End Hunger NE, which was made possible through the generous donations made by our customers and team members, through our Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief Initiative.

Our Nourishing Neighbors community relief grant program allows us the ability to assist our community partners, in the fight against hunger in our communities! Thanks to the generosity of our customers and team members, we recently donated more than 1.4 Million meals across the state of Maine to assist the Good Shepherd Food Bank in their effort for a Hunger-Free Maine. It's all about the community. 🥰

Thank you to Shaw's Supermarkets, a Visionary Partner of Corporate Partners for a Hunger-Free Maine, for donating more than 1.4 Million meals across the state through monetary and food donations. This summer, Lewiston and Waterville school partners near Shaw's stores received gift cards to distribute to families visiting the pantries.

"The distribution of the gift cards coincided with the end of the traditional school year, a time when many families face higher grocery bills as they replace school meals with meals at home. This gift helps to ensure those who live in Maine have access to nutritious food, while also providing a great sense of agency and dignity for those who receive them," said Dawn DiFiore, director of community partnerships at Good Shepherd Food Bank.
