โ€œLook how youโ€™ve grown!โ€

This week at The Interchange Institute, we have been immersed in the exciting task of data migration! ๐Ÿ˜† We are diligently updating our alumni information into our new client interface, streamlining the process of finding a registered Crossing Cultures with Competence (CCwC) trainer or an Intercultural Training Expertise Certified (ITEC) Professional Trainer. Exciting stuff, but it also serves as a reminder of the remarkable growth of our trainer network.

From Asia to Africa, Europe to the Americas, our alumni have truly embraced their roles as cultural ambassadors and change agents. They have utilized their expertise to bridge cultural divides, foster understanding, and promote inclusive practices in organizations, communities, and educational institutions across continents. ๐ŸŒŽ

And to think this was all started in Boston, MA back in 1997, by Dr. Anne P. Copeland https://buff.ly/46RVY3B. What an amazing achievement ๐ŸŽ‰

But we are not โ€œresting on our laurelsโ€ https://buff.ly/44d60dR. Recently, we have had the joy of welcome many new talented trainers, not only from the US but also from West Africa, the UAE, India, and beyond. The Interchange Institute is dedicated to reaching even more corners of the globe, empowering professionals with the skills to navigate cultural complexities and promote inclusive environments.

To all our CCwC and ITEC alumni, we extend our heartfelt congratulations on your achievements. You are making a significant difference in the world, and we couldn't be prouder! ๐ŸŽ“

This week we will be discussing, "What's in a name?" with Tamara Makoni. https://buff.ly/3rckfRn

For many of us it's no accident that we're called what we are. Names often convey hidden meaning: a parent's wish for their child to embody certain traits; a child's position within the family and role in continuing its legacy; a nod to a favourite singer or TV character; or many more things besides. And when we look closely, we can see that many cultures have distinct conventions around name selection that persist to this day.

In this Culture Chat we'll explore what some of these conventions are and the significance that underlies them. We'll also examine popular naming trends that transcend culture in today's globalised world, and invite each participant to ask themselves 'What's the meaning behind my name?'

During our recent visit to Dubai, we had the opportunity to explore the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in nearby Abu Dhabi.

One thing that stood out to us was the construction of this cultural icon brought together over 3,000 workers and 38 global companies.

Artisans and materials from various countries, including India, Italy, Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, Malaysia, Iran, China, United Kingdom, New Zealand, North Macedonia, and the UAE, contributed to its construction.

Visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was a truly captivating and awe-inspiring experience, reminding us of the power of collaboration and why we continue to work with an increasing number of construction related businesses looking to improve how they communicate across cultures.
