It’s been a slow growing start to Tomato season here, stubbornly cool and now we are in annual LA June Gloom. Temps in low 60s. Battling mildew/disease on several Sun Gold Plants. Will likely have to yank a few this week (never easy).

Love the 2nd life my plot neighbor has bestowed on this Spikeball net as a strawberry critter prevention netting.
Worm casting harvest day! First casting harvest with the Urban Worm Bag. This bag has worked GREAT, weekly been adding food scraps (veg and fruit only) and now we have about 30-40 lbs of nutrient rich worm castings ready for the garden beds to refortify our soil for late Summer/Fall growing.
Chumming for worms! Come and get your fresh seedless watermelon boys! Experimenting with this buried watermelon trick to attract worms and have them p**p their magic p**p aka castings to rejuvenate as oil and deliver nutrients for my tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce.
Sun Golds around two of 2022. Still NOT doing great (Nothing like the bountiful harvest on 10th Street in Brooklyn), sandy soil, variable soil, nutrient deficient… hard to nail down exact cause. But still much more delicious than store bought tomatoes. So the toil continues.

Thursday night micro harvest.
Some very welcome and rare rain in Los Angeles this morning. Nothing beats rainwater for garden, rich with nutrients and none of the chlorine from the tap. We could use more, remember to conserve and harvest fellow Angelinos!!💦🤙
