A warm welcome 📸:
Life is too short not to have fun! That’s always our philosophy but especially here. There are sea green triangles around the room supporting this headboard wallpaper 🌊 🏝️ and we love it for this teen’s bedroom. 📸:
Farmers market season! Getting my chopping on and constantly wiping all the watermelon and peach stickiness off my countertops. Kids and their stickiness…but also running and swimming and fun ✨
And no, this isn’t my kitchen but it’s from a project in Ditmas Park with the most lovely clients.

Outdoor dinners, sunsets, and swimming these are a few of my favorite things ✨

Fun holiday shoot with in Litchfield, CT! This kitchen completed in the COVID days, is classic and timeless. We aim for this in all our projects, preventing you from getting trapped in trends that will require you to redesign when its popularity passes! 📸:
A graceful selection of materials and tones to complement the architectural details in this home.
We waited for over a year for these swivels in a custom fabric. While the room wasn’t finished until they arrived, they were worth the wait. I want to use them again as they’re incredibly comfortable and for a swivel have a great shape and plenty of negative space. 📸:
This space with an incredible and enormous fireplace from 1690 was a puzzle to design honestly. It's a pass-through space in between the office and formal living room but in an open area adjacent to the dining room. We just had to celebrate this fireplace somehow though the area can not accommodate much seating. We decided to go with two leather wingbacks, because, well, classic and an upholstered ottoman. Now the space is reimagined as a perch for an after dinner cocktail, a cozy spot for two.
Just a good 'ole bathroom before and after for you in a Park Slope apartment.
A neutral photo as a palette cleanser in your feed. While the trend has moved away from the neutral look that was going strong in the pre-covid days, we think it's important to really design according to what speaks to you on a deeper level, and if you must incorporate trends best to do with pillows, art and accents that are easily interchangeable. From fashion to interiors, trends are short lived, and anyone else feel like they are cycling faster and faster? So many warm elements in this classic space, we love it no matter what year it is ✨ 📸:
The theme of this post is simplicity. With everything going on, it’s hard to post a picture of an interior. I’ve decided to keep this account about my professional life and post my political views, and really anything non-interior on my personal account. This is about simplicity because that seems like what I can handle today.
The bathroom pictured was a pretty basic white box with builder grade finishes when we started. With the addition of new finishes like the chair rail, paint, wallpaper, sconces, and a grasscloth mirror it's transformed. Sometimes a little bit of care can go a long way. 📸:
Played with textures in this bedroom for a layered serene feeling. From the weathered linen wrapped nightstand to the window casing to the boucle throw, wool rug, upholstered skirted bed frame we really mixed it up! With the soft blue background, it all works and provides a perfect respite for our lovely clients. 📸:
We love this limestone entryway as we stained the parquet floors in a checkerboard pattern, that with tones that match the preexisting gorgeous original border. Check out our previous reel to see the process. We love how this pier mirror reflects the bright light in the space and how it's framed by the blue-gray trim of the adjacent living room. The complementary tone of the wood newel post and abstract portrait complete the clean but elevated look! Less is more in this space as the floors are just spectacular ✨
We've been so busy loving summer, we haven't posted in what seems like forever. But back at it! Today we're sharing this office we love, to get us back into the Fall spirit and mood. We love the return to Fall and the reset it brings. I somehow always think about September as the beginning of a new year and January as just a milestone in winter. 📸
Love this room for its timelessness and warmth! This Victorian home had a large open first floor that needed to be cohesive and we sought to balance the spaces with a mix of old world charm and modern lines. The several bay window nooks were taken into consideration with pieces that hugged the lines such as this curved sofa here. The daybed in the foreground connects another part of the living room with a different rug, focal point and feeling. Tying large living spaces together with transitions like this is so fun and provides an opportunity to make things interesting in a way other things don't. 📸
Collections!! Collections of anything are interesting and speak to what's important to a homeowner. We love to highlight them. In this project our clients were avid readers with tons of books obviously. Books provided the ultimate backdrop for this space and we love how they inject color and almost a rainbow barcode effect behind the seating area. The length of them to the floor also allowed for books and toys for the kids in the family who have their own play area behind the adult seating area - it’s totally hidden from the sightline at the doorway. No one wants to look at brightly colored kids toys so this was the ultimate design homerun that allowed everyone in the family their own dedicated spaces that didn't lessen the sophistication of this room. 📸
Sharing this little vignette today! Was hard to miss with this original stone wall. For us it is really about the mixed materials here with the brick floors, vintage pine desk, french doors, fresh flowers and styling. It's the ultimate landing spot upon entry, and the drawer provides an extra spot for those important things that you don't exactly want sitting around. 📸
Farmers market finds in this kitchen detail shot. We sourced the perfect vintage island for this kitchen renovation and it really pulled the whole kitchen together by giving it a lived-in feel. We loved a good vintage hunt and clients willing to take the plunge for a unique one-of-a-kind piece! 📸:
This week we've been looking at a lot of bathrooms, tiles, and finishes as we have quite a few in concept development. This one here was completed during the height of COVID when these tiles took forever to come, the contractor stopped and restarted work consistently due to trades or their families getting sick, no kids were in school, and stress in all aspects of life was running high. Oh and a toilet we needed got thrown out by accident. Just keeping it real over here. COVID was such an insane time and I'm so grateful no of us have work under those circumstances again. Despite the craziness look how beautiful the materials are in this jewel-box of a bathroom with its custom teak vanity, zellige tiles, and wall mounted faucet. The timeless beauty here survived the pandemic and will for years and years to come. For us it's all in the timeless design and quality and mix of the materials. This is a perfect example of that!
The story about this peaceful spot in my clients primary bedroom as simple and serene as the space itself! They wanted an area to wind down and talk privately on the phone, or sip coffee in peace, or, let's be serious, throw clothes that don't quite work with the outfit. We settled on these plush armchairs in rose linen to anchor the space. And this amazing and textured piece by between the sunny windows was a find at NADA art fair with my friend . I think the real story here is invest in art you love and fabrics that will stand the test of time!
Getting ready for the long weekend and the transition to summer here at L&H! With all the noise and pretty pictures on IG, we think it's important to regularly remind ourselves about why we do what we do! Creating spaces that are beautiful, comfortable, personalized, AND functional makes long weekends and long summer days even more enjoyable. At our core, that's what all of this is about - enjoying your space and time MORE. We've heard from countless clients about how much they love their space, having friends and family over, and just being home. Really and truly that is the best part and impossible to capture in pictures. Cheers to an awesome long weekend lounging and unwinding with family and friends ❤️ 📸:
Dreaming of spring breakfasts with french doors open and a cool breeze! We love this spot at our client's home in Darien, CT. These textured chairs with custom cushions and this marble table set the perfect elegant tone. We love the column detail in this special custom table and the proportion was just right for this corner of the family room. The white drapery keeps things light and fresh. And, yes, those croissants definitely got eaten during this shoot! 📸:
So happy to see this work in Brownstoner today! This East Village apartment started as a blank slate and when we were finished with it, it had blossomed into a sophisticated respite for our lovely client. The vintage fireplace we added to the western wall is one of our favorite elements as it really grounded the space and created a fantastic focal point. We aimed for a timeless design here that blended our client's love of vintage, her appetite for entertaining, and her interest in a classic design. We settled on a timeless olive and sky blue palette and had so much fun bringing in textures and patterns into this lovely space. We are endlessly grateful for clients like this and write-ups in blogs we have read for years and years. 📸: styling:
INSPO: It's the little things here like the checkered floor that includes 3 colors, the paneling on the door that pops the perimeter, the profile of the chair rail, the half-wall of fluting, the modern curves of the fixture, the unexpected traditional rug, all so so good together. It's the mix here that's so successful and alluring and totally inspires us. Oh and the secret door! Thank you for the eye candy here!
This sophisticated and timeless dining room in Darien took shape after careful consideration of proportion, color and comfort and we love how it came out! This perfect oversized vintage rug was the first thing we purchased for the space as it defined the area that is in more of an open space. We worked with a trusted and local millworker to design this oak table that expands with additional leaves to seat 12. The chic vintage Guillerme and Chambron chairs were an incredible find and this vibrant art by Aya Nakamura with its unexpected shape is the cherry on top! Bon Appetit to the gorgeous people who eat here! camera:
Beyond thrilled with how this project in Darien, CT turned out and SO excited to share! This home office is one of our favorite rooms in this historic house with its original ceiling beams, fireplace, and wainscoting. The vintage midcentury Widdicomb desk anchors the room on an antique rug with pale blue tones. And we love how the plaid drapes give the room a masculine air. The incredible art by Liana Steinmetz that pops the berry lamp shade gets us everytime! Can’t wait to share more (check the website if you can’t wait either 😊) 📸:
TRAVEL: After spending time in New Mexico a couple weeks back, we’re newly inspired by the American southwest as well as its Mexican influences. There’s rawness we can’t quite get over and a real connection to nature in design that we love. We love an earthy palette accented with turquoise and the weathered vigas and perfectly-patined leather never got old. Aztec and graphic patterns included a mixture of colors and textures and our favorites are the unexpected ones. This image here is from Mexico and includes the rawness and authenticity we’re talking about but includes some unexpected color choices making it out pick for inspiration this week. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do and get to travel soon ❤️ By: Annie Kelly and 📸: Tim Street-Porter
This part of the living room was designed to be more of the lounge area where the family who lives here can read in the window, play games on the table, or converse over a drink. We love the symmetry of the space that is defined by the bay windows, one of 4 in this room. Peach notes from the rug, lamp, and pillow prove added warmth to this space that is at once neutral and dynamic. This double-wide lounger is truly a game changer when it comes to relaxing and one that sets the right tone for this more casual area of the open living space. We wouldn't mind looking wistfully at the new snow from here while sipping hot chocolate today! 📸:
