Ina had a seizure.
I went to check on her because I heard her choking. When I saw what was going on, I literally said "God you have GOT to be kidding me."
Choking, eyes rolled back, excessive fast blinking...
Shane was at work with Nash down by the river with absolutely no service.
Unfortunately and fortunately I knew what to do. Took her clothes off and put her in the grass. She stopped within 5 seconds.
The convulsions are SSOO scary, but your adrenaline is so high that there is no time for fear. You just do what you have to do.
It's when they stop... after a seizure, breathing is very shallow almost undetectable, they are colorless, limp, and their eyes are open and so empty. Honestly, they look and feel dead. I think this is the worst part.
At this point, I remember saying goodbye to Nash because I thought he was gone before we got to the hospital. But this time, I knew we were almost in the clear 😭
I hate with all that I am that I knew the next steps to take with Ina yesterday because I made all the wrong ones with Nash. Yet I knew they were wrong with Nash. I was just too scared to speak up... they are the doctors they were supposed to know!
Anyway!
Everyone is ok! Well, maybe not everyone, I'm still struggling! But the kids are OK! They ALL have a cold but are recovering appropriately.
Ina had a typical febrile seizure, which is usually harmless and doesn't turn into epilepsy or cause any brain damage.. unless you are in the 1-2% (like Nash)
Thank you to all the people who offered to go find Shane for me. He got home just in time!
Please continue to pray for quick recovery! We have to delay our quick family beach trip until everyone is better, but we have cows getting ready to calf, so we have a small window of availability!

I specifically remembered looking up at the same sky 12 years ago today when I dropped him off at the hotel because we weren't allowed to see each other till tomorrow. (Stupid rules) rehearsal dinner was over, and everything was coming together. I remember everyone fussing over every little detail. We didn't have the right size little shrimp to go over the cream cheese appetizer thing 😄 but I didn't care about one damn thing other than being with him starting tomorrow forever.

If someone would have told me where I would be 12 years from that moment.... got the cows milked, pigs fed, here in the middle of nowhere on our 40 acres... just tucked Nash and the twins in 🥹🥹
I don't know if I would have believed it.

After putting the twins to sleep, shane came into bed and said to me, "Do you want to go on a date in the morning?" Confused, I said." Well, I mean ya, but what about the kids?" He said."At 6am, we can hold hands and walk up to the barn and look at the cows."

It's hard... so very hard with little ones to keep the romance strong. But you take what you got and make the most of it!

A whole week at the fair has been... an experience!

I couldn't pick my favorite takeaway. I'm so very proud of Nash. He did so well!

But one of my favorite stories to share is when a sweet 100% farm boy came up to Shane and said
"Sir, are you rich?" Shane looked at him and said,"What makes you think that?" The boy said "well you have that huge RV and a brand new suburban."
Shanes' reply was...
"You see my wife and kids over there? You see how happy they are? Because of that alone, yes, I am rich. "

The boy had no reply, but I hope he learned something valuable.

He is 110% selfless,
he is the leader of this family,
he loves the Lord,
he is patient,

Loving,
Fun,
THE absolute hardest worker,
best role model,
pushes all 4 of us to be the best version of our selves.
He NEVER tells me no,
Me and the kids are his life and he gives everything for us.
