JOHN VICTOR DIVI ROME BAND will be playing two sets of danceable Afro Pop funk Friday August 2nd at The Lounge at Revolution Gallery
John “Victor’ Barefogok brings his sinewy, psychedelic guitar lines all the way from Juba, South Sudan. Guitars, drums, percussion, and vocals build John Victor’s original music to evoke classic pop, reggae and jazz from central Africa and beyond.
John “Victor” Barefogok was a mainstay of the music scene in Juba, South Sudan before arriving in Buffalo in 2000. Now, he brings his unique talents to projects that aim to nourish the soul, and move the body — locally and with international African pop and reggae artists like Nkulee Dube and The Ben. But the best way to hear his effervescent, engaging style is with his own band, Divi Romē.
John Victor – electric guitar and vocals
Ed Handman – electric guitar
Ringo Brill – congas
Ravi Padmanabha – drumset

Tom Waits, who's influence of such diverse genres as rock, blues, opera, vaudeville, cabaret, funk, experimental/ industrial music is a virtual madman musical genius who's career has endured 50+ years.
Waits has composed a body of work that’s at least comparable to any songwriter’s in pop today. A keen, sensitive and sympathetic chronicler of the adrift and downtrodden, Mr. Waits creates three-dimensional characters who, even in their confusion and despair, are capable of insight and startling points of view. Their stories are accompanied by music that’s unlike any other in pop history. (Wall Street Journal)
