🕯️ Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Kotlarsky, a renowned emissary of the Rebbe, Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, and the distinguished director of the International Kinus Hashluchim in New York, passed away on Today, 27 Iyar 5784, just days before his 75th birthday.

Born in Brooklyn's Crown Heights in 1949, Rabbi Kotlarsky played a crucial role in revitalizing Jewish communities and expanding Chabad institutions globally.

In his capacity as Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, he oversaw more than 5,000 Chabad centers and educational facilities worldwide. His steadfast dedication to the mission of the Lubavitcher Rebbe left an enduring legacy on Jewish outreach and education.

CJL Downtown is a family oriented, full service Jewish Community Center providing services for any Jew regardless of their background or affiliation. There is no charge to become a member at CJL.

Why?

Because many Jewish people in the Downtown Buffalo area feel like they are “the only Jew in Buffalo Downtown looking for Judaism” and “I need to travel 20 minutes each way to the suburbs to be involved”.

There are many who don’t have access to further education about Judaism. CJL is here to fill those needs in a non-judgmental and warm traditional atmosphere.

To do this CJL Downtown is creating:

* A community where people feel for one another and are looking out for the welfare of the other community members.

* A community which provides resources for parents, spouses, children and neighbors to learn about Jewish traditions.

* A system to help people experience spiritual growth and renewal through joining one of our programs or one on one instruction with the rabbi – a subject of their choice at a time of their choosing.

Everybody feels at home at CJL. Our community is comprised of people from across the entire Jewish spectrum.

CJL reaches out and welcomes every Jew, offering material and spiritual assistance to all. With the unconditional love and acceptance for which Chabad is famous, every Jew can find a sympathetic ear and helping hand, and answers to any questions they may have about Jewish life and practice. Founded in 2021, our mission was inspired by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, whose love for every Jew was legendary.

We live in turbulent times, both in the world in general, and in the Jewish community. Our community faces both social and spiritual challenges. CJL’s many programs and services strive to meet these challenges and ensure Jewish continuity by providing opportunities for every Jew to participate in Jewish life – to ask questions, to learn, to find joy in their heritage, or to seek guidance or assistance.

Our success is made possible by the many people in the community who have chosen to partner with us and support our many activities and community services, sharing the rewards for all we do.

I invite you to join us for a program, be in touch with us, and partner with us in offering these vital services that help ensure the future of our community, now and into the next generation.
My personal goal is to meet EVERY Jew who lives or works in the Downtown Buffalo area for coffee (or tea or a glass of water).

What Now?

Visit https://www.cjldowntown.com/schedule-a-meeting/ to schedule a “let’s get to know each other” coffee with Rabbi Mendy.

Our door is always open, please stop by any time to just say 'Shalom'!
