B Team Buffalo would like to express solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Our organization is committed to uplift, support, and show up for our Black communities and the greater BLM movement.
There is so much for us to learn and unlearn. In the words of Angela Davis, "In a racist society, it is not enough to be a non-racist, we must be antiracist." We must be patient and have those difficult conversations in order to undo anti-Black racism.
Through our two major events City of Light and Pints and Pads we have worked to bring joy, much needed supplies, and support to communities and organizations who need it most. We recognize that this is a start but it is not enough. As an organization we will be looking for opportunities to work alongside the Black community to uplift, support, and further the fight for racial justice in the Buffalo community. We look forward to having our members join us in this movement and continue to support the organizations who are already doing this work.
The fight will be long, but we will stand in solidarity alongside the movement to create a world where Black communities will be safe and free. If you are an organization who is doing the work to fight racial injustice and supporting the BLM movement locally, we want to do what we can to support you, please reach out for any and all volunteer needs.
We miss you Buffalo! Stay safe, stay home, and we’ll see you soon!
During this time of uncertainty we are here to continue to support our community. Our friends at Mental Health Association of Erie County created this resource guide to help those in need find what they're looking for.
