USCIS has announced significant updates to the Policy Manual that directly impact F/M nonimmigrant students, particularly those pursuing STEM OPT and other academic opportunities.
Key changes include:
1) Flexibility in counting online or distance learning credits towards full course study.
2) Clear guidelines for school transfers and changes in educational levels.
3) Detailed options during the 60-day grace period after OPT, including changing education levels or visa status.
4) Expanded eligibility for post-completion OPT after completing associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees.
5) Corrected application periods for STEM OPT extensions.
6) Rules for maintaining SEVIS status during study abroad programs lasting less than five months.
These updates are effective immediately and are critical for students and advisors to ensure compliance and make informed decisions.

USCIS H-1B Cap FY 2025 Update!
In March, USCIS conducted an initial random selection for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B cap. This included beneficiaries eligible for the advanced degree exemption. The filing period for those with selected registrations was from April 1 through June 30, 2024.
New Round of Selections!
To meet the FY 2025 regular cap numerical allocation, USCIS will conduct an additional selection for unique beneficiaries from previously submitted electronic registrations. Notifications for this second round will be sent soon.
Note: There's no second selection for the master's cap as sufficient registrations were already selected. Those selected will have their USCIS online accounts updated with a selection notice, including filing details.

A Client Success Story: Overcoming Immigration Challenges !
We recently helped a client overcome complex immigration hurdles to secure a marriage-based green card. Due to prior misrepresentations on a visitor visa application, we filed an I-601 waiver of inadmissibility, proving the extreme hardship that separation would cause her U.S. citizen spouse. The waiver was approved, and she received her green card.
Two years later, we assisted with the removal of conditions application and submitted a naturalization application. At her naturalization interview, both the I-751 and her naturalization were approved & She proudly became a U.S. Citizen !

Starting August 1, 2024, the CDC is implementing new regulations to protect public health and prevent the reintroduction of dog rabies into the U.S.
Key Requirements:
- Health Check: Dogs must appear healthy upon arrival.
- Age Requirement: Dogs must be at least six months old.
- Microchip: Dogs must be microchipped.
- CDC Dog Import Form: An online submission receipt must accompany the dog.
