Reverend George F. Nicholas is a native of Western New York. Throughout his career he has been an innovative leader in social justice, health equity and community development. Know efficiently as “Pastor George”, he has served as an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church for 24 years. A practitioner of the liberation theology and the social gospel, he is a catalyst in the movement to eliminate race-based health disparities both locally and nationally. He is one of the architects of the African American Health Equity Task Force which has created three organizations focused on the health equity: University of Buffalo Community Research Institute, Erie County Office of Health Equity and the Buffalo Center for Health Equity in which he is Chief Executive Officer. He is the recipient of the prestigious Bernard J. Tyson Health Equity Award by the Alliance of Community Health Plans. Pastor George serves on numerous community Boards, including the Buffalo Bills Foundation, HEALTHeLink and the New York State Master Plan for Aging.
