A toast before body work to celebrate motherhood and mom’s day ( This is a late post ) with my ever awesome Jessie! She’s pregnant with her second baby boy so we We did pre natal massage therapy. I also did pre natal massage on her first baby and it’s great to see him out and a healthy toddler now ! I can’t wiat to see and meet her second one this time ! and that drink is not alcoholic drink, it’s a sparking pink apple cider 😉 we all felt bubbly ( including the baby ) before I start work 🥰 and thanks for the flowers Jessie ! When your Doctor ( my P*P) is also your massage patient 😊 I always enjoy doing body work with Dr. Dipak Patel ! Sometimes we will chat after body work and I ask him questions about certain diseases etc . He is Such a kind hearted and very helpful doctor and he’s one my best regulars that sees me and He knows the benefits of massage therapy and how he highly reccomends it to everybody, especially to some people with high stress level jobs - like him !😊

From a young kid to young Adult! I started working on eshan when he was just a little boy. Time do flies so fast ! Eshan plays tennis and he also does karate, academic activities and another note , I do body work on his entire family - mom and dad, his younger sister , grandma and grandpa and his aunt and uncle and his two first cousins too. Life do get hectic and soemtimes booking a massage therapy for a busy kid like eshan is challenging but his parents do make sure that he still gets a massage therapy and get on my book♥️

Massage therapy works for any age , Geriatric, infant , youth and Toddlers. Just like adults, kids do get stressed out too. Your young ones are more active than ever, in mind and in body. Teaching them to manage stress and body awareness while they are young can help prevent a lifetime of chronic pain and poor habits. We only have one body. Give your children the gift of teaching them how to take care of it at a young age. And how does massage therapy benefits young children? It is proven to increase dopamine (the feel good hormone) and decrease cortisol (the stress hormone). This helps regulate anxiety and stress levels that can become imbalanced due to social, family and academic pressures.

Did a SURVIVOR walk with My dear Friend/ client Teddi Harrell ! Yes, she’s already a survivor even if she’s still doing the treatment for the Pancreatic cancer that invaded her body.She’s strong willed and keeps on fighting and went through the strong waves of chemo and here she is , walking faster with us , is just amazing to see! That’s a survivor to me and I know in my heart that you will Surpass this . I’ve been working on your body since 2015 and we will continue our monthly massage therapy like we always did! ♥️😉😃

What is Sciatica ? Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve. Sciatica is a symptom of a medical problem. It is not a medical condition by itself.

Alternative names: Neuropathy - sciatic nerve; Sciatic nerve dysfunction; Low back pain - sciatica; LBP - sciatica; Lumbar radiculopathy - sciatica

Common causes of sciatica include:
Slipped or herniated disk
Spinal stenosis
Piriformis syndrome (a pain disorder involving the narrow muscle in the buttocks)
Pelvic injury or fracture
Tumors
Spondylolisthesis

Massage therapy is an effective way to relieve pain. A 2014 study even found that deep tissue massage may be as effective as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for relieving low back pain, which can be a symptom of sciatica.

When it comes to sciatica, massage can help in two ways. Massage’s main benefit is soothing tense muscles. When your muscles are tense, they can put more pressure on your nerves, including your sciatic nerve. Massaging these tense muscles may help to reduce pressure on your sciatic nerve.

Soft tissue massage may also help to increase your pain threshold by stimulating the release of endorphins. Endorphins boost pleasure and relieve pain, causing an increased feeling of well-being.

What is Graston Technique

The Graston Technique is a form of manual therapy known as soft-tissue instrument-assisted mobilization. It is one of a number of manual therapy approaches that uses instruments with a specialized form of massage/scraping the skin gently.
The therapy is designed to help the practitioner identify areas of restriction and attempt to break up scar tissue.

The Graston Technique is often practiced by chiropractors, osteopathic physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and some licensed massage therapists and athletic trainers.

Graston Technique Goals
The general goals of the therapy are to reduce the patient's pain and increase function through a combination of:
* Breaking down the scar tissue and fascia restrictions that are usually associated with some form of trauma to the soft tissue (e.g., a strained muscle or a pulled ligament, tendon, or fascia).
* Reducing restrictions by stretching connective tissue in an attempt to rearrange the structure of the soft tissue being treated (e.g., muscle, fascia, tendons, ligaments).
* Promoting a better healing environment for the injured soft tissue.

There also appears to be a neurologic benefit to treating patients with the Graston Technique Instruments. This response is similar to that involved with other manual therapies. The literature suggests that when a patient is given manual or instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) therapy, certain nerve fibers are activated. Additionally, the body's position sense organs, such as mechanoreceptors and proprioceptors, seem to respond to these forms of treatment.

* Graston Technique Indications and Contraindications

In addition, patients with any of the following conditions are not good candidates for the treatment:
* Open wounds around the area to be treated
* High blood pressure
* Cancer (depending on the type and location)
* Pregnancy - at a minimum, pregnant women should avoid having the therapy done over the spine, pelvis, abdomen, or along certain acupuncture points
* Unhealed, complicated fractures.
* Certain types of kidney disorders
* Taking blood thinners
