My last few post i made it known where stands with the huge ongoing issue in society. I decided to take 100% of my retail profit for the entire month of June and donate it to the NAACP.
•
If you’re unfamiliar with the organizations, keep reading!
•
The NAACP, was founded in 1909, in response to the ongoing violence against Black people around the country. It is the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation. Their mission: to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and to ensure the health and well being of all persons.
•
Above all of the amazing things theyre working towards, as a business owner I personally chose this organization over others due to donatings being NON tax-deductible. In todays society, its very hard to sit and watch companies be praised over their donations to organizations when their sole purpose was for a tax break and not for the greater good, or companies that donate tons of money to two different organizations fighting with opposing missions. It was important for me, to do some research, make sure 100% of our donation went directly to the cause, there was no benefit to our company for the donation.

Its hard navigating through the tons of places to donate, and get involved. Don’t be afraid to do a little research, reach out to others more educated than you ( was that person for me, follow her story for more ways to be properly involved outside of social media) and continue to be educate yourself. (Yes this is still our job to educate ourselves, not to rely on POC to educate others).

As always, i appreciate the tons of love and support Meraki has received, the love and unapologetic, accepting family atmosphere we have made is unreal, yall.
