Art is not just for kids! At Art for Life Buford, we believe art is for everyone. If you’re looking to learn a new skill, Our Colored Pencil Botanical Art Workshop might just be for you!

In these classes, you will learn different flower studies focusing on composition, color theory, blending, shading, and highlights with colored pencils. Ms. Ja Yean Yu is a talented artist who majored in museum education in graduate school in Korea and worked at the Seoul Museum of Art for nearly a decade + she also has training in art therapy! She can teach her classes in both English and Korean!

Take “paint your dog” to a whole new level and do it with oil paint! Ms. Virginia Lago will give you a comprehensive study of color theory and color mixing, with a focus on creating a three-dimensional illusion on a two-dimensional surface. The workshop revolves around creating dog portraits, and each student will paint their own dog picture while being guided by Ms. Virginia. Students will learn to make artistic decisions and incorporate their unique style and “handwriting” into their Dog Portrait painting.

Ms. Virginia Lago is an industrial designer and artist with over 30 years of teaching experience. She is also a professional artist specializing in animal paintings and is bilingual! She can teach the class in English and Portuguese.

Meet The Masters is a well-known curriculum that lets children meet a different historical Master each month and learn through their style and different techniques while also acquiring historical and geographical information tied to the artists, basic concepts and vocabulary, and learning to use a wide variety of mediums, mixed media — painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpting on clay/ paper mache/wire and more!

We also work with Lango, which uses storybooks to introduce students to characters who talk about Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures. Each adventure they get involved in takes 3 months to finish. Music activities, puppets, and art involving the same characters help make learning a new language a fun experience!

We are able to provide classes for the homeschooling community too + we offer 1:1 and group classes for children with special learning needs!

Let’s talk about ! Anime is a style of animation that originated in Japan and is characterized by its vibrant characters, action-packed plots, and colorful graphics. The word “anime” originates Japanese word animēshon, which means "animation". In Japan, the term is used to describe any animation, but in Western audiences it's used to describe Japanese TV shows and animation.

Thursdays at Art for Life in Buford is for the vibrant and dynamic universe of anime! Our resident art teacher will teach your kids the fundamentals of cartoon and anime drawing. We offer 2 classes: 5pm and 6:45pm!

Let the fashion adventure begin! 🧵 Your young fashionista is invited to our Sewing & Fashion Workshop where creativity meets style. They will learn the foundations of sewing and clothing design with us – including hand and machine sewing basics, mending clothing, sketch design ideas, and turning old clothing into new fashion.

Ms. Alexandra, who will be teaching this class, received her BFA in Fashion Design from SCAD in Savannah GA.
