Today I got to speak to Mrs Sadie Burks LaPoint’s 3rd grade class at St. Anthony School, Bunkie, La about my work as a genetic genealogist. Faith has played an important part in my journey and to share this with these students, including my grandson Jack was very special. I shared tools of the trade, including the SWLA records books and how the church plays an important part in our research.

I am excited for this new chapter! I have been nominated for and have accepted the position of Secretary for the South Central Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogist. The APG’s mission is:To support those engaged in the business of genealogy through advocacy, collaboration, education, and the promotion of high ethical standards.

I was bugged eyed from scanning church ledgers written in German from the mid 1800’s. I wonder if the people recording in these knew how important their work would be in telling family stories? Millions of important documents are not digitized.

Tools of the trade. While they are very necessary in investigative genetic genealogy, I cannot do my work without you. Thanks to people like you who have uploaded their dna, families are getting answers. The fallen military are being identified, adoptees are finding biological family, missing persons are being found, does are being identified, exonerations are taking place and murders and r**e cold cases are finally being solved. Families are appreciative. I’m a genetic genealogist and my family has been genetic witnesses to many adoptees cases, a murder being solved and an unidentified victim in the Texas Killing fields was identified. Have you become a genetic witness? DNA test, upload to Gedmatch, FTDNA and DNASOLVES. We need you!
