To help ease heel pain…...as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, trace each letter in the alphabet with both feet. This will get blood flowing through those stiff morning feet and stretch out your fascia. Later in the day, do calf stretches by standing with one foot behind the other and leaning forward, or rolling a tennis ball under your foot.

This is an example of what Nordic Pole Walking can look like for able-bodied individuals. This is only the second lesson for this individual who had never picked up a pair of poles or cross country skied before. It resembles the full body motion of cross-country skiing, but using the poles to propel you forward while straightening your spine and activating 90% of your body's muscles. I used to be a master trainer in this activity and had a national business in Canada.The class that this lady was in took place 11 years ago in central florida.
I am teaching this activity on Friday the 15th at noon time in Burleson, Texas if you or anyone you know would be interested in learning. Hopefully it will be just the beginning of many classes to come and the formation of a pole walking club.
The technique you see in this video is for able-bodied individuals with no orthopedic hindrances or issues with balance and stability. I can though, teach modified techniques using the polls for individuals who do have orthopedic hindrances or balance and stability issues. It is a fun and easy activity.
